Does anyone have any experience with running a stage 1 tune with a stock clutch. Coming from a 2.0 TSI VW motor, clutch slip was a very large issue with anything past Stage 1. Some owners even had slippage with a Stage 1 tune.

All of the reviews I've read have been very good. I'm new to the world of piggyback tunes, everything in the VW/Audi world is a flash but from what I've read, the BMS tunes are as good as it gets.

The stock clutch will hold with even BMS Stage2 but again this greatly depends on your driving habit.

My bro has APR stage 2 on his MKVI without any clutch issues.....

No problems with stage 1 - going to full JB4. Have not heard of any issues.

Well it's good to hear that people aren't having issues with the clutch after tuning the car.

The clutch in MkVI platform has had a very well documented past of failing with anything past stage 1. The largest tuner just recently released a clutch safe tune where they dial back the tq. If your brother isn't having any issues that is wonderful but I'd at least tell him to look into the problem so he is educated if something were to happen.

I had an APR stage 1, and yes, it slipped under power once I added the stage2 intake-more so with the downpipe and stage 2 reflash.

Had absolutely no issues with BMS stage 1 on stock clutch. The BMS tune is nowhere near as aggressive as the APR tune which took me from like 10psi-17psi. The BMS tune is 3-4psi.

Good to know. Being new to the BMW world, where would you recommend I go to read up on our cars and engines? It seems the tuning world for BMW is large enough but the tuners are less established compared to say APR or REVO.

Seems a little off topic.

But can someone enlighten me how the BMS stage 1 are powered? As far as I can tell, the stage 1 isn't connected to any source of power.
