Exclamation F30 Boot Opening issue - SOLUTION

Hi all,

Problem: Boot does not open up fully when you use the remote boot lid button or from inside the car.

Had this intermittent problem since i bought the car, and been searching all over google for posts on how to fix it. The dealership was not helpful at all, brought my car back several times to look at this and they didn't think the spring was adjustable.

Thanks to this post http://www.f30post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=857273 there is a way to resolve the problem.

Here are some pics I took for those who want to fix.

Left side of the boot lining:
1. Only removed one clip on the left side of the boot lining (the area behind the brake lights)

2. You can use your hand/slide a plastic ruler to pull out the lining. I lifted the rubber seal a little with my fingernail to reveal the end of the lining so i could pull it out.

3. Here you can see the spring to adjust. I stuck my hand in and just pulled it to the slot further from hinge.

Right Side:
Same steps as the left side but no clips to remove. Mine has a removable storage piece that allows access to the battery, which i took out to make it easier to pull the lining out under the seal.

Hope this helps anyone who has a similar issue!

I was able to get it to work on my F32. You just have to get your hands in there and pull with some force.

You don't really need the pics mate. Just open up the top of the boot where the springs are and you'll see, it's very easy.

Thanks! I didn't end up seeing any so just went at it and it was pretty obvious after seeing it.

2 wasn't quite enough for me so had to go with 3.

Hello, I looked for the pics, but they are not in the thread. Can you please provide? I looked at my trunk lid and I don't see anything where it has a spring. I have a 2013 335i M sport convertible.

You have a different model (e93). The trunk hinge mechanism is different between your car and the ones mentioned in this thread. Try the E90 forums for threads more relevant to your model.

Ressurecting this thread from the dead, just for visibility as our cars start to show their age. Noticed my 2014 335i trunk wasn't opening all the way automatically, and the method above worked.
