Coding Enhanced USB and Bluetooth on 2015s

Did anyone try enabling Enhanced USB and Bluetooth on 2015s thru coding if the car came with NBT/navi, but not 6NS (enhanced usb) which is now a separate option. It was previously included as part of the 609 navi or ZTP tech package, but not anymore. I wonder if it's just something BMW decided to charge money for for no reason or if it's actually a piece of hardware that will be missing if you don't order 6NS option.

I coded a 2014 435i XDrive about a month ago and the production date was 05/14. The car only had 6NH along with 609 and he already had the Bluetooth Audio Streaming enabled, just not office.

I have a feeling it will be like that as well for 2015 models but I'm in Canada so not sure if this applies to the US.

I just checked the BMWUSA website and the 2015 328i does have BMW Online and BMW Apps included with the technology package.

Where are you getting this info from? I don't think it's possible to have only 6NH if you're getting 6NR and 6AK.

2015 Order guide lists 6NS as a separate option not included with any other package.

In a nutshell:

BMW is removing 6NS as standard Equipment on many high-end models.

BMW is removing 6NS from the Technology Package (ZTP) and Navigation Professional (609) from many mid-range models.

6NH, which is now standard on more models, includes A2DP Bluetooth Audio Streaming.

The supposed motivation for these changes is that it "frees up desirable storage space in the center console", since the base plate won't be included.

That said, if a car comes with NBT (609 Navigation Professional), then it has an integrated Combox, which means it can be coded for 6NS EBT. What factory 6NS would have by comparison is Smartphone Integration (the base plate in center console for snap-in adapter integration and connection to external antenna for improved reception) and the additional microphone for improved communications.

The only other issue I see is whether BMW continues to issue 9E iSpeech and 9F TTS (Text-To-Speech) FSC Codes for all NBT Units, or only if car is ordered with 6NS. If it's the latter, then these functions could not simply be coded.

Did anyone notice the the 2015 models ordered without 609 will get a NBT based version of ENTRY?

I wonder if these are full fledged NBT head units that can have navigation and voice control enabled just by replacing the screen or by adding 606 to the VO and using it like HU_CHAMP and loading the FSC codes.

I remember when we accidentally removed 609 from one of our FAs and VO coded HU_NBT, the screen resolution changed to the 6.6" screen resolution so I'm suspecting that these actually are full NBT head units. Not sure if it would make sense for BMW to redesign the HU_ENTRY head unit this far into the rollout of NBT.

What new Head Unit are you referring to?

I am not aware of any new non-Nav Head Unit. These cars should come with HU_ENTRY Head Units.

For 606 Business Navigation option:

CHAMP2 & HU_CIC-MID is being replaced by HU_ENTRYNAV

For 609 Professional Navigation option:

NBT is being replaced by NBTevo.

What's NBTevo if it's replacing 609? Is it a new type of NBT head unit?

I believe it is a next generation "evolved" NBT Head Unit, and it will be capable of ConnectedDrive OTA Navigation map updates:

Soon. New G11 (7-Series) will have.

Since most people are using ntb at this moment, I think it's still very interesting.

It may be same CPU, but NBT is more than just the screens.

You cannot make HU_ENTRY into NBT.

I take that you don't have nav on your '14 so yes, it can be enabled via coding.

I'm looking for an answer on what I think is a similar situation. I just made a first attempt to code, and found an HU_ENTRYNAV ECU module. I was trying to add enhanced bluetooth. As I was reading around the forums, I thought I already had most of the enhanced bluetooth capabilities without the ability to read texts etc. (office?)... Reading texts and whatnot is the functionality I'm trying to add.

I thought I'd have a look through the HU_ENTRY CAFD, but there were too many features to figure out.

I got my mirrors folding up at least, so I did something right.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks all.

You should just VO Code EBT rather than FDL Code it:

Duh. Thanks Shawn. I was trying to code the FDL code rather than the ECU. Misread/misunderstood the instructions.
