340 or 440GC
I pretty much had my mind made up on the 440 gran coupe but now I'm thinking of the 340. For nearly identical build, the 340 is approx $6k less. I like the idea of driving a not so common car (440) but not sure if the extra money is worth it. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

440 handles better and will hold value better (despite the lower residuals BMW has set)

Residuals didn't work out better for me when I did the maths.
When looking at this when I was deciding what to buy I sat in the back of both, I liked the 3 series more. Sat up front and noticed very little difference so decided to buy the 340i and tick a few more options Ultimately I think it's down to personal preference. Go with whatever makes you smile. |

I thought the 440 GC was cool, but in the end i liked the 340 better. The back seat in the 4 is a little tight, and the 3rd window is a but funny, but overall its awesome. If it was the same price, maybe... Ultimately, with a lease, i went with the 340. I actually like the the way the back looks better. The small bit of handling improvement i am rarely going to notice. |

The Hatch and sportier stance and higher badge may be worth 6k. But I thought it's only 3k more. You may be ticking a few extra boxes for the 440I. Maybe m sport package too. I think the 340I looks great in sport package no need for m sport.

I have the 4 series sportline, wish i could have got the msport. It has a better stance, looks sportier, the front bumper more resembles the m. The 4 will hold its value more in my opinion

Difference in payment is approx $80 per month. I think I may just go with the 440. Like everything about it better.

Just spent all weekend going through this debate as well. At the end of the day there's too much of a $$ difference and also I thought the rear of the 4GC has significantly less head room than the 3. For reference the 2016 we ended up with had msrp 58.5 but cap cost was 51.5 with 66% residual!

I originally had a MY2015 428iGC, loved the looks and the utility of the hatch; I still miss it sometimes but financially, a 3 Series just makes more sense because you get more for your money (options wise).
I wouldn't pay the extra 6k for a MY2017 - if it were still MY2015 on the other hand, I'd tell you otherwise because the 4 Series had better suspension setup, steering, LED headlight option among other things but ever since the 3 Series LCI, it's negligible. Regarding an uncommon car... I still see the same amount of 4 Series as I see 3 Series with M Sport (in Canada anyway)

since i doubt there are that many f36 on the road. its a niche car for people who want a sporty sedan. if you take into account the about of 328i 335i from e90 to f30 thats so much more than a car (f32 f 36) for the past 3 years. |

But anyway, now that I explain it that way, I realize how pointless my statement is
