Navi update/guarantee on new vehicle?

Hi. Just purchased a new 328iX last week and since this is my first vehicle with built-in nav, I was wondering if there is a map guarantee like Garmin or TomTom where if there is a current map available, you can update it for free. Or if not, does BMW or the dealer offer a free update within the first year of ownership?

At my dealership, no guarantee that when you take delivery of your vehicle that it will be on the most current version of the map. Also, no upgrade offered in the first year. Possibly my dealership is cheap. We don't have bottled water or cookies. Ha ah ha.

Just put it into the condition of sale as part of the negotiation.

theres no guarantee....MAYBE you can ask the dealership to upgrade it for you out of good graces....but for the most part, you have to pay for the upgrade...they dont offer free ones

I'd ask when you take it in for an oil change. Perhaps they might add it in.

If not, you can always update it yourself for cheap/free. There's got to be a DIY thread on here somewhere.

I had that as a condition of the sale since I purchased in March and the build date was November. Turns out that I had the most recent map anyway but it is a good idea to ask.

Dropped off my car to have the ASS reprogrammed this morning and the service advisor said pretty much what the previous posters have said- no guarantees and that it would cost about $325 to update when the updates do come out. Oh well.
