I've owned 6 turbos. All had different lag/throttle response but my 328i is as close as I've to driven to no lag. In saying that my revs are never low enough for lag to even get a look in. That's what throttle/brake overlap is for. God gave us 2 feet so learn to use them at the same time mate. I'm not a straight line wonder either...that's why corners were invented ;-)

MP423, is yours tuned? which chip and who did the tuning?
been looking at a few dyno data of stock 328s and the AFRs look very very rich.... but also saw some 'tuned' dyno charts with the mix being very lean... almost too lean... not saying I would - but if someone combined a lean tune with 95 fuel and a hot hot day... would be a recipe for pinging?? does the BMW ecu programming offer auto retarding of the timing when senses knock? itching to tune but... concerned about insurance and warranty... only 2yrs left on the warranty... maybe tune after that :P |

I think what the OP is perceiving as turbo lag is the standard problem with all the modern cars. The electronic throttle instead of the old fashioned cable throttle that gave instant response the new fly by wire throttles all have a moment of delay. In my old Discovery 4 it was really bad.

Even when the car was stock, there was almost no lag and a nice linear power delivery. If the OP is really feeling two seconds of lag, car is broken. If it's an exaggeration, just wait till you can buy an i3 and you'll have real lag free acceleration. |
