Source?

IF they were testing new tails, I'd expect to see them on the test mules. The E92's did:

My (as are everyone else's) E90 rear lights are weird, LED turn signals and LED rear lights, incandescent brake,reverse and fog lights. Not sure why that combo was chosen. I'd expect to see at least this on the back of the F30 LCI

At no time has the N55 ever been a twin turbo, it has ALWAYS been a twin scroll single turbo (except for the Alpina N55). The N54 is the twin turbo.

N54 = twin turbo (2006-2011)
N55 = twin scroll single turbo (2011- present)
So then it's STILL only a 4yr old engine... Why are so many people talking about how "old" and ready for replacement it is?

N55 is 5 years old next month, having first been launched with the MY2010 F07. So, 6 years old when you can buy an LCI F30. Sounds about right to me.

But you won't see that on the F30 LCI.

If it's not on the mule by this stage (which, it's not), it's not going to be in production.

Only modifications to the F30 LCI externally from a body perspective appear to be the front fascia/bumper. I'd also expect the LED headlight option for the front lights only

Well if you're right and I had to choose I'd have the LED headlights over LED rears. What about others?

I agree, but the LED package is a whopping $1,900!

LED package should be $1,000 or less, and we should get LED tails and LED turn signals standard (as it was on the E90 LCI)

Any word on power output for the new 340i ? Are we talking 15-20hp or 40-50hp difference from the current 335i ?

M-sport front fascia bumper tends to not change from pre-LCI to LCI, but the front of the car such as the headlights or grills are subject to slight modifications.

In summation, LCI M-sport F30's will barely look any different compared to pre-LCI ones - only the front is changing and as dicussed, the M-sport bumper basically doesn't change at all.

My understanding is the 328->330 and 335->340 will see 30hp bumps, so 240hp->270hp and 300hp->330hp respectively.

So no LEDs and major exterior changes then? I'm getting an amazing deal on 2014 model now. Really confused if I should wait for the LCI or get the bird in hand.

LEDs are possible but looking unlikely. Exterior changes are minimal though interior changes are possible. Really though the biggest thing you should base your decision on now is price and the engine. Is the extra rumored ~30 horsepower worth the price difference of getting the deal you say you can get now or wait and pay more for an LCI model?

If I were you I'd wait until more confirmed info is released to make your decision since pre-LCI models should still have some good deals to be had then as well.

Thanks, that's what I'm leaning towards. I just replaced my rear brakes and all 4 tires a couple of months back and don't have any major maintenance coming up. I can easily wait for an year and probably still get a decent deal on the LCI F30.

There won't be LED tails. As said prior, they would be displayed on the test mule, if they were changing.

All that's subject to change is the front fascia/grills/headlights ever so slightly, per test mules. Interally, who knows. The engines are being updated, though.

I would also expect LED headlight options, but only if Xenon's become standard.

They are standard on 335i so maybe they will become an option on the 335/340.

I guess my thought process was that if they are an option on the 335, they will also be on the 328. I've never seen BMW offer lighting equipment options on the larger engine of the same chassis but not the smaller one.

So in order for it to be an option on the 335, it would have to be also on the 328. In order for LED's to be a lightning package option on all F30's, Xenon's would have to be standard. Unless, they offered two lighting packages, which would be just utter chaos not to mention reduce economies of scale for their manufacturers.

2016 and still not LED rear turn signals or brake lights... Kind of odd, right? The f30 taillights look older than the e90's.

Even though I knew this would happen eventually, why am I so surprised still and feeling outdated already. There's a bit of a worry and excitement of the new B58 engine.. I hope it's not going to be another N54 to N55 downgrade and more of a "We fixed the N55.. it's called the B58"... Want a beast of a I6, please BMW. Don't fail us! We need a better tunable engine please.. N55 seems to have a low ceiling compared to the N54.

BMW's are consumer vehicles, not meant to be tuning machines. Switching to the N55 was done to accomplish:

- Better engine reliability
- Limit tunability to stop consumers from chipping 335's into M3s

Both engines in the new 330 and 340 are rumored to have 30 more HP of output, so they shouldn't be a disappointment.

Hmm.. A 328 with 290hp? Tempting to step away from the x35 or 40 models for better fuel economy and similar power.

328 -> 330, 240HP -> 270HP
335 -> 340, 300HP -> 330HP

I agree with your point, with 30 more HP I really can't see myself going for the 335/340. I can already get in trouble with the 328. Of course, I'm sure the 330 will also be more expensive ..
