Active Cruise with MSport and THP?
Hi,
First post, but I am a longtime reader. I was wondering if anyone has built a 340i with the MSport Package, Track Handling Package and Active Cruise Control. I have seen conflicting things on this site about whether it can be done, with some folks saying their CA told them no, but I don't see anything in the ordering guide indicating it's not possible. The online configurator automatically unchecks THP when you select Active Cruise, but there is no message saying that they are incompatible, so it seems like more of a software glitch. I tried the same combo on the 328i with no issue. I am trying the build on an X-Drive if that matters. I'm about a year off from actually pulling the trigger, but if that combo can't be done then it may make me decide to hold onto my current 328i which has MSport, DHP and Active Cruise. I am frankly on the fence about wanting/needing the upgraded brakes and VSS that I currently have, but I basically just want the same car I have now but with the new 6, and I need both packages to make that happen. I know that the question of whether you need Active Cruise on a car like this has been hotly debated, but it is must-have for me. I live in NYC and always have a bumper-to-bumper slog to get out of the city, where I can enjoy the true BMW attributes, and Active Cruise makes that slog bearable. Thanks everyone, looking forward to your thoughts. |

Thanks for the response.
I dug through the ordering guide pretty closely and I don't see where that's stated. Active Cruise (5DF) has a few notes attached to it, which are: 5DF cannot be ordered with ZMT [ZMT is manual transmission] 5DF will add 6WA to the order [6WA is Instrument Cluster with Extended Contents] 5DF will delete STD or 100% equipment 544 [544 is Dynamic Cruise Control] There are plenty of notes about ZMP [M Sport Package] and ZTR [Track Handling Package], but nothing about 5DF. That's why I am so confused, since your experience obviously tells a different story. Did you order with Track Handling and MSport? If so, did your CA tell you the issue was with MSport or Track Handling or both? |

The fog lights - and the active cruise sensor both take up a good chunk of real estate in front of the radiators, and I am thinking (whether we agree or not) that this is the reason for the incompatibility. Those more knowledgeable than me might be able to confirm...

I'm going to ask specifically tomorrow now! Maybe it can be done after all.
Could of sworn I saw it in the order guide, I even remember the layout, the last section where it says what requires what and is or isn't allowed.. But sure enough it isn't there so we'll have to find out officially. Last edited by //M; 04-11-2016 at 06:01 PM.. |

Search this thread "My Estoril Blue 2016 340i xDrive" may need to get on the computer but it can be ordered. Sorry my post messed up at first. You can see the adaptive cruise control sensor in the lower grill, has Xdrive and Track handling package. No reason BMW should limit it - albeit they do indeed have weird restrictions from time to time.

In the "Effective January 1, 2016" Ordering Guide for the US there is a note "11/18/2015 - Shipley - Updated 5DF ordering rules for 340i and 340i xDrive: cannot be ordered with ZMP and ZTR". So as of Novenber 18 2015, Active Cruise can not be ordered with MSport and THP
I just ordered a 340ix in March and could not get Active Cruise with MSport and THP. I had the ordering manager verify. I ended up with MSport and THP and not getting Active Cruise control. The car from http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...daptive+cruise was posted in October. so it was ordered before the restriction. Last edited by wildjeff; 04-12-2016 at 12:23 AM.. |

What a bummer... Seems like a strange move. I know it's hard for many people to believe, but I just won't order a new car without all of these options. Looks like I will be either buying my 328i when my lease ends or getting an S4. Seems like a huge mistake, considering the fact that their competitors are offering all of these traffic jam aids, even on their sporty offerings.

If they would pull the fog lights to remove airflow obstructions, then it make sense that they would do the same for that giant rectangle for active cruise in the middle. Maybe in the future, BMW will build that somewhere else into the vehicle bumper. But I hope it doesnt look like the original caddies with the night vision: https://www.google.com/url?sa=i&rct=...61274000712296
