Thoughts on the navi glare

Since the new screen is not shrouded and deeply recessed like on the E9x, would glare/bright sun not be an issue?

This issue has been raised a number of times. If a good explanation has been given, I have just missed it. Some claim that BMW says that the screen is "hi-tech" and will not have any glare. Frankly, I doubt that in bright sunshine, but who knows. Guess we will have to wait for the car mags to ring out the F30 to find out.

A better question is will you be able to see the screen with polarized sunglasses.

I would think like all such surfaces there would have to be some glare. I bet this could spawn a whole line of aftermarket accessories from hoods to transparent glare shields similar to the phone screen protectors.

I have driven the new 6 series (with a very similar nav screen design) and although it is always readable, there is definitely some sunlight washout that occurs. That said, it was a convertible version so the light levels were far more intense than that which would be experienced in any F30.
