Are people still clay barring?

I used to do that with my BMW's and now I want to get back to doing it again b/c we have new BMW's. But I read somewhere that there is a better less time consuming way than clay barring. Y'all know what I'm talking about?

There are clay towels/pads/sponges etc that are very popular. I use a clay towel for 95% of my claying needs. Only really tough jobs require actual clay.

Not really new, clay towels have been around for a few years. Google "Nanoskin"

I've been using this for quite some time (gone through 3 of them)

Okay found the same one from your link but better pricing. So what's difference on sponge vs. towel. Which one is easier to use. When I had one young child I would spend all day working on my cars. Now nearly a decade later with two kids a little older, I don't have that much time. So anything that makes my life easier is better.

I started with the sponge but didnt like it. They towel is very easy to use. I like the 7x7 towel over the large one just for ease of use. I think they also make clay pads for buffers too

They make a mitt that's also easier to work with vs. the bar.

I still clay. I have used these towels but I find them more like a rbber coating you have to rinse off, as opposed to re-kneading the clay. They do work really well for "in between" washes but still doesn't compare to proper clay every few months. All in my personal experience of course

Paint cleaner does nothing compared to clay

Thanks Trump. Disagree with facts all you want. Clay and paint cleaners are for different jobs

Wow, that was fast. You said "nothing" and I disagreed.

The products I listed work for me.

As for the Trump reference, I'll leave that one alone.

I use a Clay Mit. Wash Mit but one side is just like a clay towel. Super effective and saves time since I'm a detailer on free time.

Where are you seeing negative responses? Every review on Amazon for clay towels has at least 4 stars: https://www.amazon.com/Nanoskin-AS-0.../dp/B00CUAWEZC

Why would you not even try it? It takes less than half the time to "clay" a car with a towel/sponge than with typical clay

I have tried both old and new methods(the Nanoskin mitt). From my experience after 2 tries. Use the mitt while you wash. Rinse the vehicle then foam gun/cannon. Use mit and two bucket method. Really cuts down time. Then break out the bar for those annoying/stubborn spots. I like a really nice clean car but enjoy driving it more then cleaning it. I'd spend 4-6 hrs washing claying polishing seal wax etc. Now it's more like 2-3 depending on how OCD I feel that weekend.

Just try it and if you don't like it toss it in the garbage. There are plenty of products I've done that too. I'm sure most of us have.
