F30 Colours. Or "colors" if you're American at home.
Whenever building the F30, I always went straight to Imperial Blue Xirallic because it looked good! After seeing it in the flesh and being in an Imperial Blue 328i, it is a nice colour but then I saw a Glacier Silver F30 and thought that looked even better! It looks better on the configurator too so I have attached 2 screen shots. Apart from personal taste, there are 2 problems I see with Imperial Blue. Firstly, it will be a bitch to keep clean as dark colours notoriously are and our Imperial Blue test car did look a bit dull and dirty after only 250mls on the clock! This is a real concern for me as the car is high mileage at around 27,000 a year. The second problem is that it didn't look metallic or particularly shiny but then it wouldn't - its xirallic. So for me, the metallic Glacier Silver is a more practical option and more aesthetically pleasing. I think. What do you reckon?
I did think about Mineral Grey but I don't think it would look right on my car. I think only the Sport Line with the 397's can pull that off. What colour's are you looking to get a 3 Series in? Would be interesting to see which seems to be most popular. And least popular! Last edited by SomeRandomer123; 03-02-2012 at 11:10 AM.. |

Xirallics "sparkle" more than metallics. Just ask those that got the Metallic version of Sophisto Grey (B90) instead of the Xirallic version A90 when the huge Xirallic shortage hit after the Japan disaster. Though Imperial Blue doesnt have as much Xirallic in it. That said, I would personally think the Glacier Silver would suit the UK weather much better I vote Glacier for you Individual Ruby Black for me

I'm actually quite glad I never went with grey, you see it so darn much on the roads right now :S

It will go great with a red interior as it will make the interior really stand out. Plus, the red interior makes the anodized dark red dash trim piece look very nice as it suits that color combo. In pictures the red trim piece looks very red, bright. But, in reality it's actually a dark red and looks nice I don't think you made a mistake. That dark gray suits this new 3 as a luxury color. Overall, I think the new colors are lacking. It seems all the colors are too dark. And then BMW removed the non metallic red, which I LOVE. There needs to be a brighter blue, and a nice metallic shade of green is also missing. The color choice is just lacking overall. |

Hello All, F
first post on the blog for me. I'm in the market for a new car and trying to decide between the 335i xDrive or the 550i xDrive and was at the dealer last week. I was initially looking at the Imperial Blue, but after seeing it in person, it's too dark and has too much purple in it for my taste. I had not even considered the Mineral Gray, but saw it on a 1 series and love it. I looks so much better in person than on the website. So much so, that it is a factor in my leaning towards the 3 over the 5, as the 5 doesn't offer mineral grey. That and the little voice in my head telling me $72K is way too much money to spend on a car... So, imo, don't regret the mineral grey. It looks fantastic. |

I think Le Mans Blue needs to be brought back to the whole range! Deep Sea is a little to dark for me.

+1, here's hoping Glacier is closer to SilverStone then Titanium.

Glacier Silver is the best for me, especially with a Sport Line. But Space Grey is the best BMW color to me, too bad it isn't offered on the F30s.

I once saw a m3 at a showroom that the paint looks like sanded down with sandpaper and the finish is not glossy at all. Is that the SilverStone or just different type of coating?

We will have to wait for the Individual to be released to see Frozen Silver, Frozen Gray, Frozen Black, Frozen Dark Blue or Frozen Bronze on the F30

The "Frozen" Individual colors are basically regular colors with a matt clearcoat

All these colors are so beautiful...
as far as F30 is concerned, are you guys sure it's Imperial Blue Xirallic? because on the BMW NA website, it shows Imperial Blue Metallic? How do we know for sure... (without asking the CA) ?

It is alright. After my 3 years lease is up with the new F30, then I get another with the frozen color. Any extra cost to get that?
