Best bang for your buck to make your 328i sound better?

Hello Y'all,

So this is going to be a really nooby post but I really don't know much about exhaust or anything. I have a 328i F30 with stock engine and I want to spice it up a bit and make it sound louder and meaner.

What is the best way of going at this? I want to get a quad or dual exhaust if Im going to get an aftermarket exhaust cause I hate how the 328i has dual exhaust on 1 side. But are there cheaper mods to do before getting a whole exhaust system? I don't even know what catless or catback means so if you're going to use those words, can you please explain as well haha.

THANKS!

I'm pretty sure alot of people going to recommend muffler delete. I know thats what i'm going with .. around 300-400 bucks exhaust shop can get it done for you. Obviously itll be more depending on which tips you get.

Depends how loud you want it. Some would recommend a catless downpipe because along with the extra sound you will get the highest HP gains.

The 35/40 mpe or standard muffler with a down pipe..that has flex pipe to it.

Since you don’t need pipe bigger then 3 inch for a 2.0. That’s the best gains + sound.

Any other muffler will just make it louder...and drone. The 35i has a helmholtz chamber muffler which is tune to cancel out certain tone. Giving you more pitch less base. Making it sound like a Bmw not an evo.

Both Akarapovic and iPE use the exact same design on their exhaust for the whole range.

And please...the muffler delete off boost sounds like a 95 civic and cold starts? Lol I would want a paper bag so know one see me.

I can tell you this, on a 320i it's a f'kn joke, lol. I'm tempted to go the muffler delete route myself too. Don't get me wrong, having the catless DP in mine is nice with freeing up the air restrictions (ie. ~25hp), but for sound, it's just sad, haha.

If you want easy and some flexibility, an exhaust dump is worth investigating. Basically it's a Y pipe that has a switch so you can go from stock to hooligan mode easily. There are times when running a delete isn't ideal - ie trying to take a work call in the car or driving around your neighborhood early in the morning.

I have a resonator delete and Muffler delete, but i installed a straight pipe from Supersprint that deletes the resonator, but that might be the reason why mine pops, burbles, and cracks more.

oh shit i actually watch your vids

Bro the tune he has is from DME tuning pops and bangs option it cost $899 for BEF tune to work with your jb4 if you have one or $799 for a flash tune pretty good im going to get it next month just want to get a full exhaust system before I do any pops and bangs. I contacted Br performance and they will recommend you to DME since BR is located in Europe.

This is off topic but anyone need a MAP sensor bought one from ECS tuning and ended up not using it because it was just a boost leak I was dealing with.
