I noticed that too! I went back to look at the pictures to see if I could find them all, but I couldn't. Where would 16 even fit?

in know there are now 2 on each back door...so thats 4

2 in the front doors another 4

1 under the front seats 2

probably 4 on that back shelf(2 tweeters, 2 mids) 4

That fron center tweeter and maybe a mid in there as well...that would make 16

Previous HK system was 13 speakers and 425 watts I believe.

I saw this on the configurator earlier. I've also got it in my current order. 16 is a lot of speakers. I've never owned a BMW before, so those of you that had the premium sound pack in the E90, are the additional speakers noticeable to the eye? I'm hoping they don't stick out so much they detract from the look of the interior.

No doubt I will definitely enjoy the sound though.

when i had my 2007 and 2008 335s they came with the upgraded stereom tho im not sure it was the same HK that is currently offered on e90 lci, there were no HK badges in the speakers in my cars before. Its souded pretty good. My current 2011 328 base, and the sound system sounds pretty damn good, world better than the sound system in my 2010 328i

don't get excited too quickly.. Ido have the HK in the new series one and it is a crap... obviously, will sound better in series 3 but not much better. I had the opportunity to listen (quickly) to the HK in the new 3 this afternoon at brussels auto car, with low quality radio input ok, but did not impress me either.

doesn't sounds like very good test conditions.

indeed.. lets hope its far better than in the new one.. but overall have feeling bmw does not "invest" much in sound systems compared to other manufacturers...

BMW does plenty in this space, they have lots of great sound systems and will continue to innovate. Ive also gotten the premium sound packages and have never been let down, Im glad the 3er now gets the upgraded packages and will certainly be in my next 3er

Unfortunately BMW do not disclose how the 600 watts is rated.
Peak to Peak, PMPO, Peak, RMS (unlikely, due to excessive battery drain). So as nice as it all 'sounds' (sorry for the pun), in disclosing the power of an amp, 600 watts from one brand may not be 600 watts from another.

Now, I have the Logic 7 in my E90 and it sounds great, so please do not misunderstand this post. As an electronics technician (by tertiary training), I learned a lot about quoted power of audio devices and it is not enough to quote a high power figure without qualification.

Now taking the power rating a step further, is that 600 watts into speaker impedance of 8 ohms, 6 ohms, 4 ohms or 2 ohms?

If its the same as the on ein my 2011 e90 base 328 then it should be pretty good.

Right now, I think there is an error in the bmw configurator scheme. If you build-your-own F30 and scroll over the HK upgrade option, it still shows the old (E9X) HK specs: 420 watts with 13 speakers. I think this system sounds excellent, particularly when a DVD is played. But, 180 more watts and three more speakers probably couldn't hurt.

So, the questions are: Is the HK upgrade 420W/13 as it was in the E90, or 600W/16 like it is in the F10? Or, are there actually two stereo upgrades available for the F30?

I was commenting only on the sound of the E90 HK. I have yet to even see an F10.

However, the 600W/16 version is available in the 5- and 7-series, if you can get to your BMW dealership. It won't sound exactly the same, but it would give you an idea of what to expect.

On the E90 the 2 bass speakers were 4 ohms and the rest 2 ohms
Will post F30 info when available

The F10 shares many spekers with the F30 but not the amplifier
F10 doesnt list ohms but says power split is 7x50W and 2x 125W
Assume F30 will be similar

I've just been in an F30 with Harmon/Kardon, there were 2 speekers on each back door! Looked really cool too but didn't have much of an opportunity to "try it out."
