Query re Upgrading to Larger CIC Screen

Just a query that someone here might know the answer to. I've done some research but unable to get a clear indication if this is possible.

I currently have what I understand is the 6.5" CIC unit in my car, including Navigation and Bluetooth operation/music streaming etc.

Is it possible to purely upgrade the screen from the 6.5" to the 8.8" whilst keeping everything else as is?

Perhaps a point in the right direction if anyone has come across something or knows the answer.

I have and still am considering the NBT upgrade but it appears to be more hassle than I can justify in regards to the install and thought this could be an easy way to update the look without much drama...ha!

Cheers fellas.

From my experience with the E90 platform, it's not possible to just plug in the 8.8" screen. I have tried plugging in just the 8.8" screen on a CIC unit and the resolution ends up being funny/unusable.

Looks like you'll need to change the CIC unit as well, second hand kits seem to go online for around 1k - 1.5k.

Thanks for the reply.

I've found a second hand kit.

Would you know if the install is as invasive and involved as the install for NBT? I would think 6" CIC to 8.8" CIC shouldn't require the rewiring that the NBT install does. Would that be right?

Is the CIC install something that could be done at BMR? Perhaps PM me with cost if it is something you do.

Cheers.

Much less invasive than an NBT retrofit. Will pm you quote.

I also have the 6" business nav..and quite interested in this upgrade

So my questions is...If i was to buy a 2nd hand CIC professional with 8" screen from somewhere..is it just plug and play with some coding? are the wiring for both business and pro CIC the same or do i need to buy extra wires for it to work?

cheers

Hi, has anyone upgraded their 6" screen to the 8"? I am considering to do this upgrade as well. Have BMR perform such installation on a F30 before?

It's been done on 2 series before id imagine same deal.

All you need is to do abit of coding! And it unlocks features like the dials the x35 models get on the monitor!
