Build Location - New 340i
Good Morning All - I recently ordered a 340i 6MT. Looking at the BMW site using my production # (No VIN until it starts production) I notice the title of my car is "My 2017 340i Sedan SA" Does the SA signify the car is being built in South Africa? Not that it matters too much but I was hoping my German car would be built in Germany but this is the 21st century so I won't be surprised.

Your guess is as good as mine. I was originally going to have mine built and was told it would be built in South Africa and there would be a couple of months required to build it before taking delivery. The 3 series will eventually be built in Mexico unless Trump gets his way and has production moved to the US where the SAVs are built.

SA is for South Africa build. This is where your dealer's allocation was for. When ordering a car, you want to ask if they have an allocation, when is it, and where is it. SA builds takes a few weeks more due to travel time but boats can be tracked in same way as a German build. Some boats go from SA, up to Europe, then over to the US. My 340 was on a boat that went straight from SA here to the US.
