Streaming Audio From iPhone
Just picked up my new F32 Saturday, which has Enhanced Bluetooth. Bluetooth connects great, plays iTunes music no problem, and can make phone calls. This morning I tried to stream "non-iTunes" audio (Tune In Radio), and I just couldn't get it to work over the bluetooth connection. The phone kept reverting to playing the last selected iTunes playlist.
Can I stream non-iTunes audio over bluetooth? Do I need to plug the phone in to do this? If not - any idea what I'm doing wrong? |

It works fine for me w/ other apps (Instacast, etc.) but it's fiddly. I have to start it, then it'll stop. Then I start it again. Sometimes it looks like it's playing but there's no sound so I switch to radio and back to multimedia and the audio will start coming through. Can't tell if it's iOS7 or iDrive being janky. Either way it sucks.

If you have BMW Apps, it works great from there.
Tune In is listed in the Other Apps. If you don't have BMW Apps, try it like he said.

Streaming audio iPhone over Bluetooth
This works fine with iPhone 5 (iOS 6). That said, it is different from using BMW apps (e.g. Pandora), if the phone is connected via lightning cable and IBM Connected, I can see the music that are playing in Pandora, over Bluetooth I only see the information for the first song. A bit annoying in my opinion, but you don't need to physically connect the phone.
Did not mention, I have NBT, tech package, BMW apps, etc. F32 435i, the car is a blast to drive |

Is there a difference in sound quality of BT Audio from iPhone and connecting an iPod via USB?

as long as my iPhone is connected via BT, i can play anything directly to the speakers...with that said, it seems there are 2 "modes" - playing from a playlist which is the normal way of going through your library and playing something directly on the phone itself...if i play something directly from the phone itself - i.e. podcasts, iTunes radio, Pandora, di.fm app, games, etc. all the sounds go through to the speakers including any text or email alerts
also, this is the only way for me to play certain podcasts like Tiesto's Clublife...if i try to play this the normal, iDrive way, it plays for a few seconds then BT disconnects...Same happens with Armin's podcast...if i just play it directly from the phone, it plays just fine (through the car speakers) iPhone 5S, iOS7, NBT with the latest BT and iDrive firmware from BMW's site |

Just got a new 335. Love it.
I have a Motorola Droid Razer Maxx (great phone) and I can play off of music files, but I can't figure out how to play Pandora. There is zero sound, either connected through BT or headphone jack. Do I need to download a special BMW app? |

I have the same issue while streaming XM radio. Yes the car has XM but streaming from the phone is best for a talk show to listen to the while show. Does the same if connected by a cable as with Bluetooth. Very annoying.

What kind of iPod? I've always assumed that's because the resolution of the album art that is used on older iPods was lower res.

I have a question... Taking delivery of a 14 335 with tech package in a day or 2. Will the phone and car automatically switch to usb for streaming music when my iPhone is plugged into the usb and connected via Bluetooth at the same time? I am curious because I believe it uses Siri eyes free through bluetooth so if I use that that to select a track I still want the usb sound quality.
