F31 Roof Racks
Hi guys,
Wondering if anyone can point me in the direction of some roof racks to mount between the factory roof rails? The genuine BMW roof racks sit far too high and are hideous. I saw a 5 series Touring running racks than were mounted between the factory rails and were also black, which is exactly what i want. Every search seems to come back with ones that mount on top of the factory rails. Any leads appreciated.

I have Thule ones on my F31.
I'll take a picture of them when I get a chance for you and dig up the model of the footpack etc. You'll find they stick up as the fixed roof rails on the F31 are low and there needs to be clearance for the curve of the roof. |

Not going to run a roof box so there should be no interference with the shark fin. Picture and details would be great Feng. The closest I have found is Whispbar Low Profile Roof Rails, although they don't say whether or not they suit F31. I have emailed them to find out.

no problems. I have taken pics, but they haven't synced to my dropbox yet
one thing I noticed is that if you tried to use an 'edge' style, it'll make the car look lanky and tall as it continues along the line of the windows and make the top of the car look more narrow. I went for the Thule Wingbar Black, and I think it looks fine. Anyway... when dropbox sorts its life out, I'll upload the pics |

Here are the pictures as promised.
I need to move the rear rail back a smidge. I couldn't find anything to tell me how far apart to space them... but it looks too close. Currently 700mm but I think 710 or 720 would look a bit better. *shrug* |

you can also use the wingbar edge which will put the bar slightly lower I think?
http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...73&postcount=8 I personally like the full length bars though... personal preference |

I have the Thule bars about to go on mine. But the integrated end type ones. Along with a couple of bike racks. Will post once installed.
*Edit: Pics of Thule Wingbar. Rail mount. Part numbers are: Thule RT95922 & Thule Fit Kit 4023 I did put on my Yakima bike carriers but the clamp type mountings provided wasn't great on the aero bar so I'm going to do a custom mounting using T bolts to give much stronger fit/support.
