F10 M5 or F30/F31 Alpina B3?

From the Alpina website:

The new BMW ALPINA B3 BITURBO

The foundation that Burkard Bovensiepen laid in the 1960s in the form of a performance-enhanced BMW 1500, has since developed into a permanent fixture in the luxury sports car segment. What were then the first technologically and qualitatively relevant products marketed by ALPINA, namely four-cylinder petrol engines with Weber dual carburetors in the BMW Neue Klasse, are now in modern form high-tech automobiles. Equipped from the outset with the best possible genes by BMW, they currently represent the ultimate in performance, comfort, ‘driving culture’ and efficiency.

The new BMW ALPINA B3 Bi-Turbo combines these characteristics like no other automobile before it. The straight-six 3.0 litre engine equipped with two turbochargers delivers 410hp and a maximum torque of 600Nm. The adaptive ALPINA sport suspension system and the 8-Speed Sport-Automatic transmission with ALPINA SWITCH-TRONIC deliver maximum comfort and impressive dynamics. Functional aerodynamics combine well with the trademark 20” ALPINA CLASSIC wheels and together with two elliptical double tailpipes create an elegant appearance. The new BMW ALPINA B3 Bi-Turbo accelerates from 0 to 100km/h (0 - 62mph) in just 4.2 seconds, reaching a top speed of 305km/h (190mph). When driven moderately, it consumes significantly less than 10 litres of Super plus (98 RON) per 100km and achieves a class-leading combined fuel consumption measured to ECE norm of just 7.6l/100km and 177g/km CO2 (Saloon RWD).

I am interested for sure BUT: when specced up it could be north of £60K and for a F30/31 thats silly money. The other thing is RV on your PX , I approached Syntners a year or so ago to PX a BMW for one of their cars new, and would have taken a real "bath" had I gone ahead
PS) the so called "Paddle Shift" is a couple of Buttons!!!!!!! F**king awful.
Looks great though.

I posted this thread just for you!

B3 looks great and it's bloody fast. But I see your point. But perhaps you should try one if this is possible.

I did see an M5 at Berry, Chiswick a couple of weeks ago and got speaking to its owner. He loves it but did mention that the fuel consumption was a shocker. Car had white leather with a child seat in the back. Looked immaculate inside and out except for front kerbed alloys. Massive car, sizewise.

Yea I may try one.

Looking at fuel prices now the M5 could be a no no if the pound keeps on dropping, If the pound drops to 1.40 fuel will be £7:50P / per gallon +
If that happens then By By M5 i'm not that keen to waste money driving.
Could look at the new M3 end of the year or some big diesel engined BMW should one come. Who knows, I just love change.

One wife, many cars. Better than many wives, one car.
Cheaper too, probably!

I went in early Jan and celebrated Coptic Christmas on the boat even though I do not belong to that faith or any faith if truth be told. It was great fun. But my oh my, does it get hot by 12 noon. And this was in their winter months. The desert heat is a killer and you can get sand blindness. They start off really early morning for the trips. Just don't go balooning or sit on a stinky camel. But it's a truly memorable experience and it takes your breath away. Literally sometimes.

Ata boy. You got on the case quickly. Drive both and decide which is more fun and more economical. I really like the look of the B3. Just remove the Alpina logo from the front splitter, please.

Agreed with that. Those transfer stickers make a £50k car look bloody awful especially the ones down the side of the car . Very 1990s. And the multi-font on the back? Take that lot off and it would look fantastic

I've never washed a car in my life. There are plenty who oblige and do a good job under my very strict supervision.
