Do you guys have dash cam in your cars? Worthy?

How many guys here are having dash cams in your cars? Do we really need it especially at greater LA area?

Because my friend surprised I don't have one in my car, and he told me he recently got an accident because an asshole didn't stop at stop sign, but that asshole called the police told them my friend didn't stop. Plus, because no one was around there at the time, so they were telling the police two different stories, ended up my friend hired an attorney to fight this case and my friend won, but he paid more money than he actually got claimed. And he got the dash camera now and told me if he got the dash camera back then, he can sue that asshole to die. And spend around $100 for a dash cam to protect self is always worthy.

But I never thought about this kind of things would be happen, so wondering how many people actually are using dash cam here. Is it really worthy?

Thanks

I got one for my car and my wife's car for that exact reason. Too many dbag liars out there. Why risk it. I would recommend a 2 channel camera so you can record from and back. If you are gonna get a dashcam, no point going halfway with a 1 channel imo.

I got the wife one too mainly because she is the one with the kids usually. If she got in an accident with the kids in the car, making sure the kids are ok is going to be stressful enough. Having the dash cam provides her one less thing for her to stress about in that situation.

But how did you do the wire things especially the one in the back? I'm actually considering the one with really easy installation, basically it's plug & play, and just hide the wire in the trim.

Yeah, you need to, man, especially you already got one, just simply plug & play.

I have one on all my cars, it's been used twice in accidents and it's the reason I wasn't charged.

I can see the logic behind in having one but never bother to mount one, hate having wires sticking out or laying around. Yea, you will say run the wire underneath the pillars and roof, but wires will still be shown. It probably gives more reason for some shit bag to smash your window and rip it off. I'll take my chances, 20 years of driving and havent had any douche run into me

you only need one time to change your mind. when you don't have any witness, other party is lying and your insurance is shitting on you. it's cheap investment and I could potentially help other people on the road who got into accident by providing footage.

I don't know why my comment got deleted, but get one ASAP. When things turn bad its good to have some extra peace of mind.

I have an A118 in every car, wired along the headliner and A-pillar with some black mounting tape you can hide it fairly well. The VW's I hardwired with add-a-fuse, but the F30 has a socket under the passenger side dash.
Have not had to 'use' any dashcam footage (yet).

This is what I see as far as wires. Yeah there is a little, but Imo not bad at all. The wires are tucked behind pillars, panels and under weatherstripping so you see no wires except for where they go into the cameras. I'm one of those very ocd type people. The inside of my car is almost sterile like. There is never anything on my days, in the floors, nothing. And the wires don't bother me one bit.

Having the camera gives the page of mind that is worth the few hundred bux. One incident and it will have paid for itself many times over.

Thanks, guys, I already got one, called DDPai, I know some people are recommended Blackvue, and I found a local place they are still Blackvue and this DDPai, after I compared, I feel DDPai is little better overall to me. Half price of Blackvue, but it has warranty, office at greater LA area. They even done the installation for me. Even though Blackvue has better reputation, but once got some issue, at least I have call or email them to ask exchange or whatever, but this one, DDPai, I might just straight up to the office.
