iPod Touch Plays on Internal Speaker
Lately our (current gen-1) iPod Touch keeps wanting to play on its internal speaker instead of through the car sound system. This usually happens after it's been parked a while with the iPod plugged in.
When this happens, the arrow buttons still skip forward and back, and the iPod appears to be charging. It takes an extended dance of unplugging and replugging the cable to get the audio back through the car system. Has anyone else seen this? I wonder if the iPod needs repair/replacement, or if a new one would just do the same thing. This is on a 2012 328i. We have the latest USB firmware on a car, and are using a standard Apple lightening cable. (We've tried two different cables.) |

The screen shows the iPod touch interface, and gives me full control. Even after replugging it, and getting it to play on the speakers.
That's not supposed to happen, is it. I wonder if it's playing on bluetooth instead of the cable when it does work. I will check. |

No, it's playing over the cable. The iPod music app shows the output as "Dock Connector".
It's been a while since I looked at the screen while it was connected in the console, but didn't iPhones and iPod Touches use to display a BMW logo and disallow local control when plugged in? |

Yeah that's why I asked. My iPhone and iPod Classic both display the bmw logo when plugged in. Seems like your connection isn't good for some reason. You could shut off Bluetooth to rule out that's the way it's connecting.
