Thanks. There is a very little color mismatch though and painted reflectors are a tiny bit darker (not sure if it is because I bought them in the US to fit them on my European spec F36, but it seems unlikely). Hardly noticeable, you would only see it under a bright sun and knowing what you are looking for...

New fog lights bulbs

The OEM fog lights are extremely yellow which is no big deal because you never really need to use the fog lights, and when you do, well, it means there is little visibility

Still, my fog lights activate when using the turn signal or when turning with the headlights on and it looked terrible. Like for the turn signal bulbs, I did not want to go all the way to LEDs or spend big $$ for something so inconsequential.

I ordered 4200K Osram Cool Blue Intense that were readily available online.

It is always difficult to show the light color/temperature match on a photograph, so you will have to take my word for it. The matching is not perfect (fog lights closer to 5000K would probably have been better), but good enough.

Time for some coding...

Back in the US, I had to enable some of the european features on my previous F30... and in fact took opposite steps now on my F36.

Here's what I have coded so far:
  • enable car 'chirp' when locking/unlocking and adjusted turn signal flashing
  • code taillights as DRLs
  • turn off iDrive when opening the driver's door with the engine stopped
  • 'M Performance' instead of 'BMW' displayed in the instrument cluster when getting in the car
  • ///M animation when iDrive boots
  • disable auto-start/stop by default

More small stuff again, still no performance mod. Not sure how long I will resist, although I must say that the car accelerates and goes faster than what daily traffic allows me to (not even mentioning traffic laws) and that body roll is well controlled with the M-adaptive suspension.
Doing more reading and asking questions, I got more mixed feedback about installing H&R springs on a car with adaptive suspension. I have the springs in my garage and am dying to lower the car a bit, but I am concerned I would negatively impact the suspension and handling...

Nice!

I had coding done by EAS but I forgot to mention I wanted M performance display in the cluster...
My car still shows "BMW".....
and my car just shows M startup screen instead of the full animation at start up
Hoping EAS might be able to fix that w/o charging me

Coding this is really quick and easy, so it will be a matter of goodwill

The frustrating (?) part is that you do not see the M startup screen (or animation) very often. You really need to get behind the wheel and start the car in less than something like 20 seconds after you unlock the doors. I guess it is just there to be displayed while the iDrive boots which is probably triggered by unlocking the car.
Call me a fool, but I would not mind if the animation was displayed every time I start the car

Once the system is already booted, the animation doesn't show. It usually shows when the car has been sitting for a while and you start it up. If you leave the car and come back after 5 minutes, it most likely won't show the animation because the system is already started up from the last time you shut down.

True but even that is very unpredictable. I'd not drive for 3 hours and it immediately starts w/o startup screen and sometimes I'd let it sit for 45 mins and it shows up. Very random

I guess what I'm curious about is how long it usually takes for the system to shutdown completely.

I think once you unlock it (if you unlock from your key from a distance), the system starts booting up. Try unlocking then immediately getting in and starting!

I will try that. But imagining me rushing into my car just to see the startup screen for 3 seconds is funny to me

You can also press the on/off(volume) button for more than 20s to reboot the iDrive and be sure to see the animation... Probably not worth it

Enough work for today!

Carbon Fiber Mirror Caps

Aftermarket but quality is OK. Fitment on the driver side was not perfect though, but not really noticeable (and not worth paying twice as much for the BMW CF caps).

PS: starting to run out of small mods Any suggestion is welcome!

^Nice!

Some relatively small mods that came to mind:
  • Rear Diffuser
  • Stainless Steel pedals
  • CF M perofrmance interior kit
  • Rear spoiler
  • Stud Conversion Kit
  • BMS Intake
  • Front lip
  • Side Blades
  • CF Emblems (if you like that sort of thing)
  • CF E-brake

Looking good! Where'd you get the mirror caps from and how's the weave?

Thanks. I bought the CF caps from AutoTecknic. The weave seems fairly similar to OEM's an fit fit and finish of the CF is in fact pretty good. The only negative is that they seem to use 'core' caps that are cheap Chinese knock offs that do not always perfectly adjust.

In the market for coil overs

ATLBlue,

You mentioned a few posts ago that the coilovers were still in the US. Would you have any interest in selling them?

My very first track session was the March 2016 HPDE with BMW CCA and I've gotten the itch to get the body roll out.

I can send you a PM if you want to sell them.

Do you have any other parts from your F30?

Thanks in advance!

Yes indeed! We may have seen each other in March as I was attending the BMW CCA HPDE @ Road A too. Wasn't your car a new 335i Mineral Grey? I was frustrated to be out of the country for the second HPDE in September

As far as parts are concerned, everything I had on my F30 335i is still in the US (except the H&R springs and F8x control arms) and for sale. I was in fact waiting for my college kids to clean everything up and send me nice pictures so I could list the parts in the coming days but they must have been busy partying too hard -surely not to celebrate the performance of the Bulldogs though-.

The PSS10s are available as well as the Dinan tune (I checked with Dinan and the warranty is not transferable, but it is plug and play and certainly good quality). If you like the sound of the AWE exhaust, it is for sale too

Feel free to PM me. Since you seem to be from the Atlanta area, I could recommend the shop that installed (and removed) everything from my car... and many others before.

I am on vacation for a few days but will be online and have the kids stateside to help me since I will not be back until 11/14.

More pics from today. Need to find the time for a good detail, nice place to take pictures, good equipment and some talent, but this will do for now
