haha, hey, hacking bimmers is a life.. well, sort of

But yeah, that's indeed the main reason I'm not doing much for now. It will probably change once she goes to school, though haha, nah, it wouldn't be too bad, the plan is to continue with my own independent IT crap and just work from home or where ever I may be.. I would do that now too but there's just no starting on it, kids are too much time consuming lol, it just does feel like I'm kind of retired already haha

Always interesting to read the differences between countries.

I'm 39 and this is my 5th BMW in 19 years. Have had a bunch of other cars as well.

In Denmark the F30 series start at 74 KUSD for a 316d (2.0 litre, 116 PS, Diesel) with less equipment than you can imagine. 335i starts at 134 KUSD with pretty much the same equipment (=nothing, bar 2 zone aircon and heated seats)

Hence I'm in the younger bracket of F30 owners here (don't know anyone else yet).

We have an ordinary house valued at 530 KUSD.

I work for one of the most important US tech companies, but don't quite make 140 KUSD a year. I do, however, pay 52% in taxes for every "dollar" earned!

As I see it, the numbers work against me :-(

Same here. As the taxes are incredible, here in Turkey, the numbers rocket high even for a 2lt. engine! I would have bought my first bimmer much earlier if the taxes weren't that high. Believe it or not, the tax is a little over the price of the base car for a 3.20 (about 112%), and the base package of a 3.20i becomes 57 KUSD. This makes me upset as I read the forum. With the amount I have paid for my 3.20i in Turkey, I would have bought a fully loaded (with all options you can imagine) 3.28i in the States, and possibly even save some money.

So, the numbers are not only against you. I won't even talk about the gas prices btw. :-(

All you 20-somethings are supposed to get houses first then the car! I'm 39. Got my first Bimmer (2000 528i) 7 years ago at 32. This will be my fourth (F30 328i M-Sport - Ordered for PCD).
