Suspension options
Hey guys,
I'm looking to upgrade my shocks on my F30 and was looking at Bilstein B6's but they're on backorder almost everywhere i checked. Im not looking to lower the car. My main goal is to get rid of the floatiness and body roll

If your adaptive and pre lci, , stock Lci adaptive dampers make for a nice upgrade .

I am in the EXACT same spot as OP. Not lowering my car but looking to stiffen suspension, increase handling a bit.
Was also thinking B6's but wasn't sure on a spring to pair with them? What would be a good spring to pair with a set of quality aftermarket shocks without lowering car? |

Not to jack the thread but, so has it been confirmed that LCI Adaptive dampers are stiffer than pre lci? I haven't looked much into it but I thought it was a setting change much like Dinan and their shockware.

That is definitely my default, just wasnt sure if there was a firmer option. Im not concerned with loosing a few mm in height but dont want to be "lowered."
Also didnt want the stock, worn springs to be a bad starting point with a brand new set of bilstein. Would stock sport model springs be a good option? |

i often see people selling 704 suspension in the classifieds. not the greatest but at least you know how it works.
also consider upgrading sway bars and adding strut tower bars if you want to reduce body roll and stiffen the chassis upgrading suspension performance at stock ride height is rare but i'm sure you can find something if you look hard enough. some bit of lowering is always involved if you want better handling because it lowers the cg and makes the total suspension stroke smaller. http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...b6+acs+springs i'd say go bilstein factory replacement springs to go with the b6 just to keep it brand matched, idk. if i were buying struts/shocks/springs combo, i'd rather just get the B14 PSS and accept the lowering even at max height. plus a it'll look better a lil lowered anyway Last edited by alohasurftoad; 01-16-2018 at 12:15 PM.. |

I'm leaning strongly towards the B16 PSS10 (though the non adjustable B14s PSS would probably be just fine) .. with a tasteful drop .. nothing crazy, but the stock xdrive wheel gap is a bit much. The dinan sway bar looks nice as well, but one thing at a time.
Konis or Bilstiens .. in my prior road racing days that's what _everyone ran myself included. Ohlins are nice but $$ |

For xDrive vehicles, KW Street Comfort coilovers are a good option to consider if maintaining close-to-stock suspension height is one of the goals.

Is the B6 a good option?

B6 shocks will certainly improve suspension behavior and it might be sufficient for you. Please keep in mind that stock / softer springs and stiffer shocks are not a good combination and suspension behavior improvements will be limited. Coilovers offer matched springs and shocks by design and will give you the widest range of suspension performance options.

So. What spring are B6er's using?
This is likely to be my next mod and trying to get my ducks in order. Would like to hear from people who actually have made the swap from stock to B6. |
