I don't think you can repair runflats. Or at least it's very unlikely. If you get a puncture, they will go down, you will wreck the tyre and it'll need replacing Having said that, that's precisely what's happened to all my "normal" tyres too so I'll shut up now :|
It's a good idea to get some kind of tyre insurance though if you've not got a maintained lease because these suckers cost mega monies. I got one nail in the shoulder of my MPS and I was £900 lighter by the end of it. These runflats on the 19s are around £300 each too so it's a scary prospect.

I got a slow puncture on a run flat, didn't let it 'run flat' and got it repaired fine. Not everywhere will do it but the main thing is whether you drove it flat, otherwise normal restrictions apply, needs to be in the centre of the tyre etc.

Given the 10% plus discount on the car most of us are getting, and therefore the lower invoice price wouldn't Replacement Plus+ be better as that will pay the cost to replace the car like for like new for old.

Two of the advantages of going the BMW route for tyre insurance (with them matching the competitive quote of course ) are firstly you can pay the premium over a year interest free. Secondly you have the choice of either using a tyre specialist and claiming back the cost, or you can go into any BMW dealer, tell them the policy number and they'll supposedly do it for you there & then assuming they've the tyres in stock, then you just sign for it - no having to pay and claim it back.

I've never owned RFT's how do you know you have a puncture? From the tyre pressure monitor?

They still deflate. They're just much stiffer making it able for you to drive to nearest garage etc. plus yes the tpm.

I've had 2 punctures in 10 years and drive 20K miles PA. The tyre insurance is similar to a tyre cost so you'd need to have at least 1 puncture in that time to break even. Is it likely you'd have 2? |

The way I look at it is that I was going to pay £600 just for the GAP with Dealer so for an extra £250 I have the GAP cover for 4 years plus the Tyre, Alloy and scratch/dent for 3 years thrown in.. I cant argue with that.

Now I'm back on RFTs and staying that way, both summer and winter sets, for peace of mind I've gone for a 4-year, 5 x £300 cover. Particularly as it only takes one RFT puncture and replacement with a BMW approved tyre, to virtually pay for the policy. HighlandPete |

Exactly, I don't see value in the tyre insurance due to the high cost. A BMW salesman intimated that customers have been known to slash worn out tyres and getting them replaced free on insurance. If people are doing that, you will be paying for thier tyres, and that is why it is so expensive comparitively.

It's easy to see tyre insurance as a waste of money if you've been lucky enough not to have had punctures.
I was the same with my E81 - could have got insurance for around £250 but reckoned it wasn't worth it. I went on to have three punctures in two and a half years costing me nearly £500! You win some, you lose some

BMW not covering a factory fit option? Can't say I'm impressed, maybe they should update their advert...
