BMW Online via Connected Drive

Anyone else in the UK having issues being unable to connect to BMW Online please ?

I've had 'no connection' since last Wednesday, although both BMW UK and my dealership tell me, that by remotely accessing the vehicle, everything is showing 'green'.

Thanks.

My BMW Online went down temporarily earlier in the summer, but eventually came back up. You might try running the update through the menu and see if that helps.

The only consistent problem I've been having for several months is the Weather Widget not showing up in the split screen. I keep getting the message the service is not available. However, the BMW Online is working fine. Since my closest dealer is a 100 miles away, and this is not a big deal, I haven't taken the car in to have it checked.

Thanks for the info Mark.
There is a little bit of history with my car and BMW Online.
I was unable to access BMW Online via Connected drive for 16 days in July. Eventually the dealership updated the software and everything came back.

Then in September I lost it again. This resulted in a new 'combox' being ordered for the car from Germany and when that was installed in October, everything worked well again. That issue resulted in my being unable to access the system for 34 days !

It went again on 19th November and I have had numerous conversations with the dealership and the Connected Drive specialists at BMW UK.
At the moment, everyone seems to be at the head scratching stage !

Until yesterday, if I selected Connected Drive from the main menu, I got all the usual options, including BMW Online. If I then selected BMW Online, after quite a time I just get 'no connection, unable to connect via mobile network, please try later or change location'. I have, of course tried later and changed location (all over the north east of Scotland) and still get nothing.
Yesterday evening, after a suggestion from the dealership, I tried the software update option and as a result I just get a very restricted menu from Connected Drive, that doesn't even include on screen, BMW Online, Concierge Services or Messages etc.

I'm back to where I was over 4 months ago !

Well I'm delighted to say that all my BMW Online functions via Connected Drive were restored just before Christmas.
After a tremendous amount of investigating by the dealership, BMW UK and BMW Germany, it was eventually put down to the sim in the car not liking the sim in my ancient Nokia mobile phone. I was a little sceptical about this when BMW UK Technical Dept asked what phone I used. Although the phone continued to work via Bluetooth and all phone functions showed up on the screen in the car, all other online functions ceased to operate when this old phone was paired. Once the phone was 'unpaired' and the Connected Drive system restarted everything worked perfectly.
After seeking the dealership's advice and using the compatibility checker online, I opted for an iphone 4s. It has been great and I should probably have upgraded the phone ages ago. The only downside, of course was that I needed a new cradle for the phone to sit in. Again the dealership came up trumps when I suggested that as I had been put to the expense of a new phone, would they pay for the new cradle. They readily agreed and . . . . actually provided me with the expensive full media cradle which retails at £175 !!
So, all in all, I'm delighted and have ended up with all the additional 'apps' that weren't available to me before.

On a different note, I've just been playing with an image of my car using a new Topaz plugin within Photoshop . . . maybe a bit wild for some tastes.
Happy New Year, lang may yer lum reek.

I am having problems with the time/clock. Is set to automatic but it just gets stuck and the time does not move... I think this automatic setting is linked to the connected drive service...

I think its set by GPS. Even on cars that don't have Connected Drive, the clock can be set automatically.

Yes, I believe you're right, the time updates via BMW Online. If your Connected Drive services appear to be operating OK, have you tried unautomaticating the time, leaving it for a couple of days, to run on it's own, then reautomaticating it ?

Just a thought really.

ps - that's not really a word, but I like it.

Something is wrong... I have tried to set the time manually but still gets stuck and the time does not further change. Selecting the automatic option does update the clock but then the time remains stuck at that given time...

Last night I found the clock+weather widget, if you see the picture the widget is showing the correct time 20:30 while the clock in the dash was already stuck and showing 20:28

ConnectedDrive seems to be working, as you can see the widget was showing fine... the car is starting fine, could this be battery related? Does anybody know how to reset the computer?

In the meantime, I have booked for service the 23th Jan

I usually have the weather widget showing on the split screen and have noticed that the time on the instrument panel and the time on the widget don't seem to be exactly synchronised, but it is usually only by a few seconds.
I've tried unautomaticating (I love that word, OK I know it's not a real word) the clock and leaving it for a couple of days. But I can't replicate the issue you are experiencing. So I've now reautomaticated the clock again.
I'm sure the dealership will get it sorted for you.
As to resetting the computer, when I was having all my original issues with BMW Online, the workshop foreman mentioned that sometimes disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes or so would cause everything to reset. But I'm not sure I would be brave enough to try it.
Leave it to the experts.
Good Luck.

Long pressing the mute button to reset the Connecteddrive didn't fix the clock issue. Unplugging the battery would be the next step but the car is still under warranty so will just let the dealer sort it out - Hopefully they will fix and replace the battery anyway...

Thanks for trying to replicate, not sure what is the point of the "automaticating time" option, we crossed the channel to Belgium back in November and the clock didn't "automaticate" to European time...

Will update after Friday.

They kept the car until today Monday.

Friday they tested the battery and charging levels and "leaks" - all was fine, they then re-programmed the car, which took several hours but didn't resolve the issue.

Today I understand the car is ready - they may have read your message allachie9 - I understand they disconnected the battery for a while and then re-programmed again.

All this very weird event has been fixed under warranty.

Leaving this note in case other f34 gets the same glitch. Case closed, lets hope.
