Please help... lease return is on Monday and im screwed

Hey guys, i was taking my splitters off (with a heat gun) and the tape still managed to yank the paint straight off of the bumper. This is a real bummer because im supposed to do a trade in on Monday and this is very noticeable. I was thinking of picking up some EB touch up paint from the dealer.

I would really appreciate if anyone can help me out! Thank you

You'll be better off masking it off & using a spray can it will be less noticeable.

I think there is a grace period for returning your lease + x-days. Or, you can extend by one month. All of this can be confirmed by calling BMWFS.

If you have a grace period or choose to extend by one month then take it to your local body shop to repair for cheap ($100?). It's not going to look factory but may pass inspection.

Worst case, I think you can put the splitters back on and return the car with them on? I don't think the dealer will care a whole lot if you have them on.

I returned a lease last year with a similar problem as yours
1st who is doing the inspection - mine was done by my dealer
2nd - if you have a good relationship with your dealer and they conduct the inspection you should be fine. find out if your dealer is authorize to conduct the end of lease inspection if so do it with them.

if you do this spray type fix you need to know what you're doing. there's a potential for you to make make it look worse over a larger area.

The fastest option for me was just getting touch up from BMW. It doesn't look terrible, but it's somewhat noticeable because of the raised areas around it. Any suggestions as to how i can smooth it out?

Get some 1000 and 3000 grit sandpaper at an auto parts store and wet sand it a little. Tape off the area first so you don't scuff the surrounding paint. Spray paint will work better since it is a very fine layer of paint. Touch up paint is hard since it goes on so thick. Just don't overdo it and make it more noticeable. The dealer will expect some wear and tear and they'll have to recondition the vehicle anyway. They also probably won't care if the splitter is still on.
