BMW 4 Series Coupe Spied Against Audi A5. First Real Life Comparison Look
BIMMERPOST NEWS BMW 4 Series Coupe Spied Against Audi A5. First Real Life Comparison Look It's no secret that the upcoming BMW 4 Series Coupe (F32) has its sights set squarely on competing with the Audi A5 coupe, and we've now spotted the F32 being tested directly against the A5. Seen here is a F32 435i prototype (powered by N55, at least initially upon the model's introduction) parked next to the Audi A5, following some direct testing and during a lunch break for BMW engineers. The photos give us a first look at how the 4 Series Coupe looks compared the A5, as well as a glimpse of it next to the F30 3 Series sedan. It's difficult to judge exact dimensional differences from the photos, but it's interesting to see the similarities and differences between the two directly competing models - especially how the new 4 Series looks more similar (than the outgoing E92 3 Series Coupe) to the A5 in styling with its new hind roof-window-trunk shape. We will see the production F32 4 Series Coupe revealed sometime this Summer (with an auto show debut in the Fall). Production of the F32 coupe will begin this July 2013 (for deliveries beginning late August-September). The F33 4 Series Convertible begins production in November 2013. The US will get the 428i and 435i coupes, in RWD and xDrive versions. The European model lineup can be seen in this previous post showing VIN model lookup results. The coupe and convertible models will be joined by the 4 Series Gran Coupe model in 2014. It's too bad the crazy rear-end aesthetics of the concept car won't make it to production. I loved the front and rear bumpers.

How is this car revolutionary (ie no concept headlights, no concept bumpers) enough to be given the new name "4". What a joke, should have left it as a 3 as that's all I see thus far... a 2 door 3-series.

It would be nicer to see the 4r compared with the red f30 on the left.
From what i can see there, the front light seems to be wider than the F30 with an less aggressive look in my opinion. The differences between the sedan and the coupe will be less notable than the e90 and the e92. |

I know that F32 is still in camouflage but sweet heavens that A5 looks so sexy.
If only Audi would ditch that God forbidden 2.0T engine. . . . |

I'm actually quite upset with BMW! They show us this great looking concept. And they're making commercials with the great looking concept...and this is the boring contraption that's soon to come out?!??!?!! Definitely bummed...

I like the stance from the front and back, but not sure of the side to side.. I wish the exhaust ports were a little bigger, and the muffler was more tucked... it could some more robustness here
From the side it looks so square... like big... I am also trying to envision the boomerangs on the sides Audis are just too plain for me |

I questioned the decision of even releasing the concept, it only leads to disappointment when the production version is released. |

I've owned a 2010 S5...I would really like to see the 4 series look at least "close" to the concept. Otherwise...I'll most likely be in the market for a used 2013 S5 instead :/

Hey Scott, Given the look of the rear camouflaged rear bumper, is it too much of a stretch to assume that the concept's bumper won't be like the production model? The rear bumper isn't even camo'd to the point you can't make out the basic shape. |

Looks like the full LED tail lights are not going to make it into the production models. Shame.

I suppose it will be the same size as the A5, but as things stand right now the BMW base engine is a whole lot better.
