Bump,
I find the factory hid in the f30 to be poor compared to my mk6 gti. I was looking at replacing my bulbs, but cannot decide between the OSRAM CBI and Night Breakers. Can anyone with experience recommend a particular set? Also I see a lot of people ordering from TRS due to potential fakes is direct from Amazon ok? |

I ordered my Osram CBIs from PowerBulbs, although I'm finding a set on Amazon that's supposedly sold by Osram so that might be worth a try - seems a bit cheaper than PowerBulbs' website too. The CBIs are amazing - the range on the bulbs is pretty ridiculous and it's definitely a lot closer to white when compared to the stock 4300k bulbs. They do have a burn-in period of around 30 hours for them to reach their true light output but since switching to these, I actually love driving in the dark just to see the road lit up in front of me.
Now, compared to the LED offerings from Mercedes, Audi, BMW, Acura etc, it's still not as pure white. I've been trying to look around for a reputable bulb that mimics the white of OEM LEDs, but haven't had much luck - HIDs seem to have a very fine line between being pure white and having a slightly blue tint to them. |

Guys im returning my lease in 2 days and my right headlight went out... I have the xenons and a 428i. Would anyone know what specific light bulb I would need to buy? I think it's a D1s 4300k right?

ISTAD doesn't have removing the wheels as a pre-requisite step either. |

I switched over to CBI and I do notice they are brighter. Imho it's not omg bright but enough to say they are a step up from stock. Out of the box the color is much whiter than stock.

Here's a link to a video comparison I used when deciding between the CBIs and the Nightbreakers:
I've heard good things about both, but the general consensus seems to be that the CBIs are a little closer to pure white and are a bit brighter as well. |

Have anyone tested xenon bulbs in real live conditions (I looked through youtube videos)? I have F30 with orginal adaptive xenon headlights and would like to upgrade bulbs for best performance.
Which d1s xenon bulb would be the best (brightest)? |

However, as expected they are not brighter than OEM. Since you want brighter I would go with Phillips 5000k. |

So I tried to replace my xenon bulbs today, and I cannot get the clips off at all. I tried to push it down from the top but it wouldn't budge left at all, I was afraid to use too much force as the assembly does not feel sturdy at all. Does anyone have any tips on removing the retaining clips

So I replaced the OEM Philips bulbs with a pair a night breakers. The driver side went in without any problem, however the passenger side didn't sit quite right. I installed the metal cage before putting the bulb in and it still wobble around a little bit. Anyways, I was able to secure it with the metal clip and the light pattern looked fine, so I will probably just leave it like that. Surprisingly tho, the OEM bulbs sits just fine in the passenger side bracket.
