I'm still waiting for deliver of my 340i. However I did test drive one a little over a month ago and it sounded like it had the ASD. I then test drove a 340 GT about 2 weeks later and i didn't hear it. The ASD actually sounded really good in the 340i and the GT just didn't seem as fun without it. I had a similar feature in my golf r but it sounded like crap and I ended up disconnecting it.

Notice it on mine, don't like it.

Easy way to tell - stick car in Sport and move stick to the left, listen to the engine noise. Leave stick in the left and change driving mode to comfort - revs will stay the same as you're in manual mode but the drone noise goes away.

Hard to tell with the MPPSK. I wonder if the ASD is different with MPPSK?

I thought it was disabled, as it makes a decent enough sound with that anyway.

If anything, MPPSK pumps up the ASD volume to give the impression that the car is now more powerful.

ASD module has sound levels that can be changed. As of the recent I-Step, there is even an option for "Gear Change Sound".

seems like it's maybe tied to the VIN which is programmed in the ASD module. I put a F80 M3 ASD module in my 2012 328i and it's only allowing the F80 S55 found. Won't play anything else. I'll keep you guys posted if i figure it out

Old thread I know
But I can confirm MPPSK is turning ASD off.
Mine had mppsk fitted and asd is coded off, and can not be turned back on.
I've tried recoding back to stock B58 and other M3/m4 engine combination, nothing works.
ASD software version looks different as well,

Defo gone with mppsk

That's great if it's true. MPPSK is pretty epic!

What program you use to turn ASD off? I tried bimmercode and it does not see any ASD settings in my cars ECU.

I have carly app and there is an option to code it off.

But most of coding I've done using Esys and proper obd network cable from eBay.

Thanks

Update: after having bought the Bimmercode app and deactivated the ASD, I would say that I can hear a slight difference: the car is a little quieter, especially in confort mode.

But the change is not huge and the tone is rather similar.

So MPPSK doesn't deactivates ASD, but on b58 engines, the effects of ASD are not drastic.

Compared to my previous GTI with the Soundaktor, whatever is in the 340i sounds subtle and great.

Jason, is your ASD still working? could you please share what software version you have in your ASD, like the example below.
I can’t seem to get my 435 ASD to work.
