** iPhone 5 "not supported" in iDrive?! HELP **
Hey guys it's been a while since my last post but I'm back again and this time with an issue I'm having.
So I recently switch back to iOS as I was able to sync my iPhone 4 with my iDrive. So I bought an iPhone 5 to do the same. The issue I'm having is when plug in my iPhone 5 using a lightnin adapter between my iPhone 5 and the Y cable for iPhone 4. The iDrive says not supported and this is the same when I use an original lightning USB cable. I tried to update the iDrive through the online Website siding my vin number but my iDrive says its more updated than what's in my USB. So I'm out of options, so I brought it into BMW service to see what they would say but they told me "BMW is in the process of fixing this ongoing problem for the iPhone 5" (it's been over a year since the iPhone 5 came out so I'm a little skeptical about my BMW dealership) I know other f30 users have had success with their iPhone 5 so what is the problem I'm having? And hopefully one of you guys can shed some light in my issue thanks. Some info for my car is listed below. -2013 BMW 328xi -don't have nav or enhanced Bluetooth -current iDrive software: 007.003.000

I never used a y-cable for my iPhone 4 or 5. Simply plug the phone into the usb port in the center console. I have the tech package and bluetooth so maybe that's the issue?

You don't have the necessary hardware to natively connect your iphone 5 to your armrest USB.
Usually on F30's with nav, you'd have a combox in the trunk which allows for enhanced USB and Bluetooth functions. Your only option now is to wait until they come up with a iphone 5 Y-cable. |

Would you happen to know how much the enhanced Bluetooth would cost aftermarket?

You would probably want to do some research as there may be cheaper alternatives. |

I can't get my 5S to work in the car with the Ycable or just a lightening to usb. I was told that the parts other then the Ycable have to be Apple parts, not aftermarket but that's the only thing I can think of as to why mine and maybe yours doesn't work. I gave up and put all my iTunes on a thumb drive and access the music that way. I love it. The one time I did hook up my phone with the Ycable and an aftermarket adapter for the 5S it scratched the silver area right by the arm rest.
