F30 M sport Instrument lighting

Hi
Has anyone been able to change the instrument lighting from the classic red/orange instrument cluster lighting to the white lighting as suggested in the option list for the M sport model.
Best I can find in settings is 'classic' or 'sport' for interior lighting, but selecting sport doesn't change the the lighting theme.
Any suggestions would be appreciated
Cheers
Steve

No. You will never be able to change the instrument cluster lighting from the classic red/orange instrument cluster. It's a vintage BMW colour, which has been part of it's culture for decades. BMW are very proud of the red/orange night lighting, set to a certain wavelength, claiming it's the least obtrusive colour to a driver at night.

The classic/sport lighting is for interior lighting only. Very subtle changes around inside door handle and around gear change area of the centre console.

The white/sports interior lighting doesn't look as good as the classic orange IMO. They haven't managed to change all the interior lights to be white so when you choose 'sports' I find that it's a mix of whites and oranges... that plus on my coral red interior, the white led on the sides of the interior, still reflect orange/red-ish anyways lol

There is a way to change it, but it requires coding. You can set the instrument cluster to permanent daytime mode, effectively giving you a white cluster at night. There are side effects however.

Are there white LEDs in our cluster? I though in daytime miss out cluster LEDs are just off?

Interested to hear more about the coding bad side effects

The main side effect was the nav no longer auto switched between day and night mode. But you can manually change it in the idrive settings, so its not the end of the world.
Its been 18mths or more since I tried it, but my recollection is both the instruments themselves and the extended display were in day mode. And the instruments were indeed white
