With the nice weather the South Street Seaport is a must, as is the Intrepid.

It is something that will stay with you for the rest of your life!

Very moving and humbling just to walk through.

Just in case you don't know, you can get a weekly pass for the Subway which costs around $30. We found the Subway system to be very good and we were not worried in the least whilst catching it.

Also, if it's your thing, you can go over to Jersey and go to a gun range. I took my 15 year old Son and we had a blast.

Boston, which we loved, is about a two hour train trip north. Go watch the Patriots kick some arse!

Be safe.
Ha Ha--even if this were really something someone wanted to do, the Pats play in Foxboro, which is 45 minutes outside of Boston. Better off finding a good sports bar in NYC to watch the game. They are playing the Eagles today, so expect them to win by at least 50 points....

No--after the strip club, he went to Starbucks, the Gap, Urban Outfitters, and Olive Garden, then headed home. All the things you can't do elsewhere...

Second the Transit Museum suggestion, very interesting.

Catch an NHL game (off to watch NY Rangers tonight!)

If you've just walked over the Brooklyn Bridge, don't go to Grimaldi's - Juliano's is far better.

Grand Central has a pretty good food court (book the guided tour of the station too, interesting stuff)...a better food court is in the Plaza Hotel though.

The whole Greenwich/East Village is good to walk around and for a good coffee, go to La Colombe Torrefaction.
Great suggestion on La Colombe--it started here in Philly, and is awesome coffee.

This will be super cheap this week.

2nd on the Staten Island Ferry suggestion. Super cheap and great views.

Just be careful striking up conversations with random strangers on the subway, though.

Point taken about striking up conversations with strangers.

In our experience, however, it was more a case of responding to questions than taking the initiative. People don’t talk on the London Underground, period, so NY is a revelation.

One of the more memorable exchanges went like this – a guy got on and went straight up to one of my sons, who was wearing a t-shirt featuring Popeye climbing a mountain, with some Japanese text running vertically down the side of the graphic. “What’s that say on your t-shirt, buddy?”, the stranger asked. A frail woman in her eighties, who was standing nearby, replied in a flash – “I’ll tell you what is says, it says ‘F*ck you!’”. You get the picture….

The Staten Island Ferry is the best sightseeing deal in NYC. Connects lower Manhattan to Staten Island. A really awesome 20-30 minute ride through NY Harbor, with good views of Ellis Island, Statute of Liberty and Manhattan skyline. And it is free! Staten Island Ferry

Walking the Highline is another free event that is really great. The Highline is a park built on a converted elevated railroad track that snakes through W. Manhattan (Chelsea, Fulton area). The High Line

Museum of Natural History is across the street from Central Park and is a great place to spend a day. So too the Met, MoMa, etc.

Rent some skates and take a few laps on the ice rink at Central Park, or do the same at Rockefeller Center and you can see the tree. If you love the ice, see if the Rangers or Islanders are playing at MSG and go see a game!

Walk across the Brooklyn Bridge and grab a slice at Grimaldi's! Grimaldi's

Excellent thank you,

We've done the Brooklyn bridge and ice rink at Rockerfella today, missed Grimaldis though

We are doing the museum tomorrow and will give the ferry and high line as you've suggested

Thanks again
