iPhone/iDrive stuck calling itself

All of a sudden, every time I start the car, it shows an active call to my own number. Hitting end call has no effect and the iPhone doesn't even show a call in progress. The only way to kill it is to get out and lock the car.

Anyone else had this?

Close all the apps on your phone, you probably have a random app on your phone triggering it.

Not had this when starting the car, but have had many occasions when it is impossibly to stop a call being displayed as active on the iDrive screen even though the call has ended. Very annoying and, like you, only a car stop-restart will clear it.

Thanks, for the suggestion but there was nothing else running at the time.

Did you try removing your phone from the connected devices and then re-pair it?

No, I haven't tried any fixes yet. Just seems weird it should suddenly start doing it.

I've had this when Siri is turned on and inadvertently activated on the phone itself. Usually clears itself though.

Very odd.

I'm assuming then that you've tried rebooting the phone? (achieving the same thing)

No but I'll have a mess around tomorrow. Bit irritating really - if I wanted random faults I'd buy a Microsoft car

I've had similar when certain apps are running in the background, it's always been caused by a rogue application. If this is what it is, rebooting will fix it until you next run the app that's doing it again

Very strange indeed. My iPhone SE battery has suddenly started lasting around 1/2 a day whereas before it would go all day without a problem.

Dark forces may be at play.

If you're using the latest iTunes it doesn't manage iPhone apps any more. You can still do a backup though.

We had this exact problem with my other half's Mini which has the same iDrive / pro nav as my F30. In her case it was with an iPhone 5S. We failed to find a solution, although we didn't bother speaking to Apple or BMW, knowing that they would probably blame each other. We ended up removing the device from Bluetooth, and when we tried again a month or so later it had stopped doing it - so perhaps a small iOS update had solved it.

iOS11 is out shortly, so I suggest waiting to see if that solves it.

Thanks.

I've got the iOS 11 beta as I'm an Apple developer, so I'll maybe give it a try this weekend.

Yep, seems fine with iOS 11. Can't believe I didn't think of that myself
