Wasn't focused on auto, early M's had long side marker, later had just single side marker. Looked back at first pic and saw trim M label on the door too. You'd be correct, sir.

Yup. Surprised to see so many uninformed BMW enthusiasts in this thread.

A lot of the E36 M3 sedans are auto. Manual conversions are a common mod.

I'm not an enthusiast though, just a pleb on a BMW forum here to learn and have fun. Bought a BMW for the badge to impress high school girls. Not everyone on here knows everything about BMW.
