Uneven Rotor wear

My car is a 2012 328I with 23000 KM and the rotors are wearing uneven. This is my 3rd 3 series and have never had this problem before.

Is this normal? Is there anything I can do under warranty?

The Hubs are rusted to hell already too and dealer said that was perfectly normal.

Anyone with this issue too? Not sure if I should waste my time arguing with the dealership to fix this cause I know they probably wont.

rust are normal but based on your pics, they seem to have rusted much more than I would expect. I kind of doubt the dealer will give you new ones esp. when there is no safety issue evident.

As for uneven wear, most likely needs to adjust the caliper. Have you done any annual brake service ?

No brake service has been done. The wear is the same on both rear rotors which I forgot to mention.

The only time I've seen this, is when the car isn't driven enough, very low mileage for the year, or is unused for a long time.
Doesn't know if it's your case.

Some rust is created on the exterior circumference of the disc.
When it flakes, that's where you see uneven brake disc contact surface, like you have.

The problem is not the rust, but the reduced contact surface between the disc and the brake pad.
It's not so much your case yet, I've seen much worse...

And since, like me, you're in Canada, brake wear isn't covered in the 1st 4 years, 80k Km.

Anyone experienced brake warping prematurely? Did BMW service cover it? I have a mild pulsing that's developed over the past month. And I've driven like an old lady in Eco-pro most of the past winter and spring.

BMW Canada won't cover it, but you could try.

Thanks guys for the feed back.

My car was a demo with 200KM on it when I bought it in Jan of 2013. So it probably did spend a year with very little use. As long as it's not an ongoing occurrence when I eventually service the breaks, I'm fine with it.

an update - after my service they said rust on the rotors. drive like a hoon. typical. I recall similar instructions when I had a mild steady state surge on my E90. meh. subsequent hooning has made it better but didn't eliminate it.

It is most noticable under very light braking. under moderate to heavy braking it's fine. so not your typical warped rotors symptoms. interestingly a review on autos.ca of a 228 made a similar comment on brake pulsing under light application.

Reference Page 65 in your owner's manual, or Parking Brake under "Controls - Driving".
Quote:
To prevent corrosion and braking control on one side only, lightly apply the parking brake periodically while coasting, if traffic conditions permit.
The brake lamps will not light up if the parking brake is engaged.

Really? I missed that gem. So much for eco pro and hypermiling! Does the parking brake activate all 4 wheels?
