Small annoyance: lack of water drain mirrors

I own a 2012 F30 335i.

Whenever I wash my car I get a little annoyed about the mirrors, seems like a design flaw.
Water doesn't drain properly so after washing and drying the car, the mirrors keep leaking water. And that water splashes on the doors and windows when driving.

Other people here with the same problem?

you can push them back to let them drain.

I know, do that when I start drying the car. But there is still water coming from the mirrors after say 15 minutes...

Yes I have the same problem. I start drying the car and then turn it around on the driveway which helps shake the water out of the mirrors and all the other places.

On my mk6 Golf, I had drilled small holes at the bottom of the side mirrors...Worked well. Still haven't done this on my F31 though.

Leaf blower or shop-vac might work ?

Small holes may work, going to check that out. Shop-vac helps a bit but there will still be water in the mirrors afterwards. Just irritating

Best I've found so far:
Leaf blower from both sides until it runs dry.
Fold the mirrors, repeat.
Unfold the mirrors, repeat.

I use a small Ryobi battery blower, also Makita and other shop blower skins work well.

The above is not perfect, but it's pretty close.

I wash & dry with the mirrors folded in. Much less water accumulates that way.

Air compressor FTW. Use it on the mirrors, door jams, gas tank, windshield wiper area... Basically all the seams. Do that before drying, right after washing - no more drip drip drip.
