Glass polishing
Has anyone used a glass polish/polishing pad with their DA polisher? I have these annoying marks on the exterior surface of my windshield, made by the passenger wiper when it's at the end of the wipe i.e. in a diagonal line right across my line of sight. When the windshield is dry, I don't see a thing. It's perfectly clear. But in the rain, mist I see this line..it's like a smudge/rub mark. If you sit in the car when it's raining (wipers off) you can actually see the water flows along this line down the windshield. What's worse is the travel of the wiper arm must have changed slightly over time, so now I have two lines. Again, when it's dry....nothing there.
Washing the glass with glass cleaner/microfiber (Invisible Glass) doesn't seem to fix this. I was going to try Griots glass cleaning clay first to see what that does, before getting the glass pads and polish. Any suggestions? |

Clean glass is the holy grail of detailing.
I think using the DA should be safe, but before doing that I would try a less invasive approach. First wash thoroughly with a citrus-based car shampoo, like Chemical Guys Red, at full strength; rinse, dry. Then clay by hand using plenty of clay lube; rinse, dry. Then use a 50% IPA/water solution, or better, a similar product like CarPro Eraser, to prep the surface. Then seal with JetSeal 109 or something similar. I would bet that would eliminate the wiper marks and be a noticeable improvement. |

I had a bit of the same issue my glass and I used my claybar on it. It was just the normal clay I use on my paint (not a special glass grade) and it seemed to help.

I am going to chime in because I am a fucking nut job about clean glass.
I know what you're talking about, its the kind of contamination that shows up only when you run the wipers. Heres what I would do. Clean the glass with a strong soap, then clay it, then polish it just using M205 (because its not oily), if you use real glass polish like CeriGlass there is always a chance of you messing up your glass if it isn't perfectly clean. After that do an IPA wipe, and then apply the glass coating/sealant of your choice, this should also help prevent this in the future.

This stuff works amazingly well at removing water marks on glass.
