flash drive Question

So I have a Non nav Coded EBT and USB on my car. Can a flash drive be used to store my music and be used by iDrive like on my iPod? and does it have to be formated any specific way or is formatting just for HDD? Thanks for the help.

FAT32 and yes, once plugged in look for it under Multimedia, push controller left until you get to the screen showing all sources, it will be under USB.
