Voice Control not working?
Hello all,
Something that is really bugging me with my 2012 320i is that the voice control doesn't work? Whenever I push the Voice Control button nothing happens? Am I missing something or is it not a standard feature? My car has bluetooth and the standard navigation system, not the wide screen version... I just don't know why'd they leave the button there with the voice control button on it if it doesn't do anything? |

That's weird, I still can't get over why they'd leave the button there when it doesn't do anything, would be nice if they'd let you set the button to do something instead!

This is where accountants influence the car industry. Someone figured out that removing the button on the steering wheel cost more than keeping it there. This is different to other areas in the interior where they use different panels/blanking inserts for deleted options.

Was wondering why this button doesn't do anything..
Although a long press activates my phone's voice control (haven't work out the commands to use that one however). I'm pretty sure my E90 had voice control, so seems a backward step for the F30. |

You're not missing much, it's actually quicker to use the rotary control than voice, by the time you say "navigation " wait for her reply to acknowledge then you go "destination input" and again wait, you would have had all the Nav info set and on your way. It's terrible with phone contacts, the times it gets them wrong you're better off just scrolling down to it. I have the CIC, so I can't comment on the performance of the the NBT system. I think we are still years away from having a decent knight rider style computer that can chat to us and keep us company when driving alone.
