My favourite mod so far
Took a trip up to Aylesbury Buckinghamshire today to see Jack at Royal Steering Wheels and he fitted my early Xmas present.
This is standard M Sport wheel with paddles re-trimmed with Black alcantara 9040, Red centre stripe and Light Silver 412 stitching, so identical to the genuine M Performance wheel. Quality of the work is stunning, if I'd paid £600 for an original M Performance wheel and it looked this good I'd be happy, the pictures don't do it justice. Jack is also a really nice guy and really knows his stuff. I went to him to have it fitted and the attention to detail is really impressive. Really pleased and highly recommend it, for £150 fitted it is the best mod i've done. |

Does look great......but isn't the M Performance wheel the same price or less, £550 did I see it plus your old wheel to sell?? Congrats a very nice present.
Does he do Alcantara roof lining conversions too?

Looks lovely. If I was to do the M Perf interior trim then would definitely do this to finish it off.

Reckon it's worth asking him about the roof lining, we were talking about doing the dash trim so its not just steering wheels |

Actually though now I think about it what you've done is a great idea, I've toyed with just getting the wheel. However the wheel trim then is in that matt CF and it doesn't match the rest of the interior trim (IMO only of course) unless you shell out for the full MPerf Interior trims. You've actually got the best of both worlds but just doing the wheel in Ala and keeping all the trim. Congrats again.

Looks lovely, price is very tempting given its the one mod you'll see and use the most. How did you do it out of interest, would assume it takes some time for him to do during which time you don't have a steering wheel?
The carbon fibre insert for the wheel taking out the silver plastic trim would really finish off the look IMO... |

@ weaverbeaver
I contacted Jack and told him what I was after, he already knew exactly what alcantara colour and stitching colour the M Performance one used. I sent him a deposit and he prepared a donor wheel which was just the metal skeleton of the wheel and the outer rim. I then went to him 2 weeks later and he moved everything from my original wheel to the new one. It took about 40 mins as he took care to make sure everything was identical to how it was on my original wheel. He now has my original wheel ready to prepare for the next person |

Very impressed with that! I'd do it myself but would need to find a heated donor wheel unless it can be transferred?
I have a feeling that could stop play tbh so interested to hear if anyone has done this with a heated wheel? I'd like one the same but with a saddle brown stripe at the top

I think I'll do this on my next car when it gets to around 30k and the leather goes shiny again!
Doe anyone know how well the Alcantara wheels wear? Last edited by teaston; 04-22-2017 at 05:04 PM.. |
