I have the switchable ambient lighting option (classic vs luxury) but whichever I choose, the instrument cluster stays orange.

Instrument Cluster is orange because it has always been like that for the past 30 years or so

I haven't got my F30 yet so I can't check, but I thought I read somewhere that the instrument cluster lighting is white during the day and switches to orange at night.

And that is very correct. :-) OP had said in that thread that he/she has never tried it in daylight, it was hilarious.

This only applies to the box on the middle of the instrument cluster (the one with KMs, outside temp, etc)..The rest of the cluster is orange in both day or night.

That reminds me of the thread from the guy who had always worn polarized sunglasses in the car and thought the HUD had burned out.

Mmm what are the colours for Sport and Classic?

In mine, Luxury sets all the interior lighting to white, while Classic sets it to a deep orange (which is supposed to be less fatiguing).

Ahh, so sounds like the choices are always white or orange, with orange always being 'Classic' and white being whichever Line the car is. I'm guessing that on the Modern Line, you're given the choice of Modern or Classic.

Interesting where BMW chooses to pay attention to detail
