Starting to get pissed with my sales guy

About 3 weeks ago i walk into the BMW dealership and they didnt have the exact car i wanted (BSM M sport 335 xdrive w/Coral interior). So to my surprise, they locate one for me that just arrived off the boat that matches what im looking for exactly.

So we go over price and we can't come to agreement on the price at this point. I tell him I'd put down 18k @ $500/72 month.

The msrp was $57,830. But I feel I can get the car for ~52k out the door seeing a lot of you guys on here are paying just over Net.

So, is my offer way off base or are they just looking to screw me over?

Should I walk?

TIA

I think you're asking a little too much off but it's always a good place to start low. Invoice price on that car is around $53,300 ish, the dealer will still make money at invoice but with the 2015s just out, I don't think you'll get under invoice.

sounds like you are asking for too much. But I am not an expert, you guys have 7% tax so consider how much under invoice they would be selling you the car for.

@ 18k down and $500/72 month = 54K. That's a little over invoice isn't it? Car is $57,830. I don't think it's unrealistic.

Just trying to get a good deal. Reading in this section, there are lots of people getting the car at invoice or under.

Where is the interest calculation over 6 years?

There is no way in hell you can get it for $52k OTD, invoice pricing for that car would be around $54k alone and that's before tax, tags, title and fees.

You can get it under invoice if you agree to pay invoice pricing then tack on any additional incentives BMW is currently running, no idea what those are right now though.

When someone says OTD, do they mean after taxes and the fees you mention?

So what's a "realistic" price in your opinion OTD?

Yup, OTD means "Out the door" price so it includes the real total price of the vehicle.

Depends on what your taxes and DMV registration fees in your state. I know with me, I negotiated a sales price of $1,050 below invoice due to incentives going on at the time (invoice + $200 less the $1250 in incentives at the time).

After taxes and fees and all that good stuff, I was back close to MSRP. Virginia has fairly low sales taxes and dirt cheap DMV registration fees though. The only bad thing is that while VA sales tax is low (3%), they charge tax on the ENTIRE cost of the vehicle when you're leasing.

Lucky for you you did it before they raised sales tax to 4%

You're way below what is realistic. $48,950 is what you're valuing the car at dealer invoice for $18k down with $500/mo payments at a 1.9% rate. $579 is what you're looking at with a dealer selling it to you at $54k

PM'd you on how you can get near your asking price. Always assume the salesman is your best friend in the world but can't ever make the right choices in life so you're trying to help him by buying a car to do him a favor....

Assume the sales manager is your worst enemy who's after every penny you got and even going to take away all of your personal savings from your family with a smile on his smug face.

Now that I have your attention this is how you really negotiate with these a-holes (if they are). A lot of my best friends work for BMW and Mercedes around Houston, Dallas, and Oklahoma.

Good luck. I'm sure if they want to sell you the car they'd still be trying to contact you.

Well more power to OP if he can save $10,000, but this seems a little over the top for a 2015 model. OP, you need to keep us updated on the deal you get, if indeed you decide to go with a BMW.

Lol opps, it was 4% when I got it, my fault. Still cheaper than up in good ol Maryland though, I think if I lived there then I'd of had to of paid 6% sales tax.
