Light blue "shadow" in the instrument cluster

Hi,
OK, not a really big deal, but is there a way to remove the blue rectangle in the cluster. See the pic below. I'm talking about the blueish rectangle in the lower right portion of the cluster.

Unfortunately not. Thats the LCD display and the black on an LCD will never be as black as the plastic beside it.

Put electrical tape over it.

Did you not realize that was a display?

Yes I did but displays can sometimes be adjusted. Thanks for playing.

I agree that it is a bit "annoying". I think it would have been a lot better if they would have put a display on each side (or one big). Now it is a detail in the corner and no symmetry.

An OLED/AMOLED would have blended right in.

It's these kinds of detail I would expect from a premium car..

You can turn the brightness down on the HUD and extended display to give a more flushed look.

OLED displays have truer blacks, but they are more expensive, supplies are constantly constrained, and the brightness and contrast degrade over time. I can understand why BMW chose LCD for this application, unfortunately.

People complaining about things like this on BMWs always make me cry. Go buy a Ford Fusion or sth. I look at the "extended display" exactly 0 times while driving, since all the important stuff is on the HUD, and that "rectangle" around the HUD doesn't bother me at all. Drive the 3 series like a driver, not a god damned accountant.
