The $200 a Year BMW Assist Convenience Plan...Worth It?

I checked the search function and didn't see a thread for this. I'm just curious for those who paid for this service if you find it useful?

Seems like the traffic info might be useful here is So Cal and being an investment guy the stock market info appeals to me too. I figured for $200 I'd try it and see how I like it. It's not that much money to try it out. It seems to me if we're really wanting all of this technology, why not at least try it?

ES_TRADER...........You have this??

Thanks..........

Do you mean concierge? Data connection painfully slow. I've had since oct and never had occasion to call operator for anything. I don't plan to renew.

BMW Assist has some different features. Saferty comes standard for four years free. Convenience adds:

Traffic Info
Weather
Directions
Concierge
Crititcal Calling
Message Dictation

I called today and the $200 is prorated so it's not $200 since it's half way through February. If you don't like it and cancel it later, they'll credit you back the difference. Seems like a no brainer to at least try it. Let's hear from some who have signed up for this. I would think LA people would do it just for the traffic in their insane daily commute..lol.

I get traffic in Nav without the convenience plan.

I saw that in the setup somewhere in the iDrive but when I tried it there was some kind of error message or something. Maybe I need to try setting it up again.

I've seen posts here with those showing the traffic arrows on the NAV showing heavy traffic and just assumed they had the convenience plan. That's whay I was hoping for some of them to chime in here.

Thanks... How do you like your new F30?? I am LOVING mine. Happy.

I just got it and am not impressed. The data is super slow. Maybe if they add more apps it will be worth it.

I got traffic on my Nav without the convenience plan too. And weather's always on my phone's home screen. As for directions, Nav hasn't lead me wrong yet, and if it does, always have my phone as backup.

Honestly wouldn't pay 200 a year just for some extra concierge service.

That's what I was afraid of...that it's too slow. I guess the thing to do is to wait until all of these services improve. For now, I'll just use the iphone.

Thanks

Would go faster with the NBT Nav (3G SIM). The CIC Nav has to rely on GSM data rates.
