Question 2012 Car Tax Refund/Rebate

Is there any kind of car tax refund or rebate going on this year? If so, is it hybrid only or does BMW 335i count for it also?

Edit: My previous post was wrong. There are no government rebates for buying a 335i, only electric vehicles.

During the 2009/"the stimulus years" (when I bought my last car) you could write off the sales tax of a new car purchase if you itemized your expenses.

I was under the impression that was still the case, but it was not.

You can still deduct sales tax (as in from a new car purchase) but not in conjunction with deducting state income tax. As Texas doesn't have state income tax, deducting sales tax on a car is no problem

I;m not sure about this but as far as I know 2012 tax refund will be available. Last year, about three in four American tax filers received a refund, which averaged about $2,800. A large number of those filers promise to be saving the cash or using it to pay down debt, but new data shows many of them are splurging with at least some of the cash. What about you? Do you know how you will spend your tax refund? Read more here>>
