tracking delivery dates canadian cars?
Okay...I have just ordered myself a 2014 335i. Black/black, M1 package (M brakes, M suspension, 19" M wheels), M2 package (the MPPK...engine chip, M intake and M performance exhaust) with the 8 spd. I lost sleep debating 6 spd or 8spd. My first automatic I have every bought in 25 years of cars. Ouch!
How have my Canadian friends done as far as tracking your cars delivery online??? I know all about the section on delivery on this website but I am curious if any of you have been able to do this? When I ordered my 2008 135i my salesman kept putting me off and wouldn't give me my tracking numbers or VIN however, he was good about giving me some updates as I waited. I know it is done with the BMW North American website, and am curious how it has worked for anyone. Now the wait begins. The RWD option caused a delay. Ordered March 20, build date mid June delivery mid July. If I wanted AWD I could get it a month sooner. |

I tracked my f31 using my VIN once it left the factory. My salesman gave me weekly updates on the build status and a one week notice before changes were no longer permitted. BMWCA gives us no online means of tracking production. It is an internal BMW online portal and not for public access.
With the full VIN, I was able to find out which vessel my car was on and when it reached Halifax. From there, you need to have a CN account to track progress on the rails. The CN account is not easy to get and is for the benefit of shippers primarily.

Why not just wait for the dealership to call you when car arrives? Then it will be a surprise. But if you track yourself your goin to lose more sleep
EDIT: same here when I picked between rwd or awd. I placed order sept 1 2013. dealer said rwd will come late november and awd will be late october. but w/e it was worth the wait Last edited by Dan_335i; 03-27-2014 at 02:35 PM.. |

Ademitt..thanks for the info.
Dan...you make a good point but I kind of enjoyed following my car last time. I only got the highlights...date it left factory...date it arrived in Vancouver...but it was nice to know. You read about all the cool features available to some customers (BMW USA) how they can track it online the whole way thru. You even know what ship it is going on. Kind of cool. |
