regarding your previous question, again are you from AZ? winter tires are fine all year round in the Phoenix area. now if you head up to Flagstaff in the winter and you take your car in areas where there is snow/ice then you will have a problem with summer tires.
Beautiful car! I have been in AZ for over 6 years, and I have seen a lot of dark tints (like 20 or even 5) here. Just used to wonder how many times those people keep getting pulled up! Just that I tend to tread too much on caution sometimes but still might pull the trigger on 20% on the sides and 5% on the rear.

Hmm... you mentioned that "winter tires are fine all year round" ... I guess you meant "summer tires are fine...."
The reason I asked was because I keep reading that summer tires lose a lot of grip below 45 degrees. And in Phoenix, it does become much colder than that for at least a couple of months in a year, especially during the early mornings (when we normally drive to work). I've also read lots of conflicting statements from folks who mention that as long as you drive carefully, you should be fine.... still wondering about those unexpected moments when you got to brake in a hurry or steer away aggressively to avoid trouble...Hmm... decisions decisions.... maybe I might just keep the OEMs now and go for ultra-high performance all seasons (like Extreme Contact DWS) later. Not that I would be totally happy with that compromise!!

You should ask a tire shop, some tires should be stored in the cold, but that should be mentioned in the spec of the tire anyway.
Not all tires are the same.

yes i meant summer tires all year round in AZ. you are correct that summer tires do not perform best in cold temps, but unless you are taking it to a track you are never going to be able to tell the difference in dry conditions. and no cop is going to bother you for 20% in a state that gets full sun 330+ days a year.

you are either an Engineer or way too nervous of a person?

My f30 is on a boat in Panama. It should be here in 2 weeks.

Estoril blue m-sport 335i, 6 spd manual

Anyone else here in Az order their BMW? I'm wondering how long it takes from the port in Ca down to Tucson.

I have thought of a few things. Depends on how far we want to go and how many people we can get together. For a first meet we could try to keep it fairly simple to allow everyone to get to know each other. Short local trip, up South Mountain ( twisty fun road ) out to the White Tanks, haven't been myself but could be cool, could always make a run up to Sedona or the general area but it is a much further trip , I was also thinking of Firebird raceway road course, eventually, would be a blast! Just some thoughts, let me know what you think, shoot me some thoughts.

I'm joining the list of AZ F30s. I'll be home in September and that's when mine will be delivered.

Any particular reason for not purchasing in AZ. Won't you have to pay tax in CA and then again use tax in AZ?

A good friend of mine is a sales manager at a BMW dealership, and hooking it up. As for the sales tax i believe you only have to pay sales tax in the state that you register it.
