Camera Malfunction(s)
Well it started with the side cameras, one worked the other one didn't and threw up the error "Front Side Camera Malfunction".
Then it went away for a few days. Now its back, except the front side cameras don't show any picture at all again and I have the error. Also any camera system I put on says that system is malfunctioning BUT I actually see video from the Rear Camera and Top/Side system. If I had to guess, one of the seals around the cameras went and got moisture in the system which created a short of some kind. I have an appointment at the dealer next week.... sigh. |

Well brought the car into Herb Chambers BMW of Boston on Friday 1/20. I got a loaner and they had 1/2 the day. Then they call me, state the issue was that the car must have had the battery die and in return none of the systems were re-calibrated. They also stated they performed a computer update.
After I picked it up, everything worked fine. Until today and all the issues have returned. So now tomorrow I have to call service and try and talk to a service manager. Yeah this is going to be "fun". |

I got my cameras replaced no less than 4 times.
Finally the car went into extended warranty period and I am getting excuses from the dealer Side Camera failure and Camera system and and even rear camera system messages can be red herrings. Took it upon my own and found a fix: Open the front wheel well flaps. Locate the connector to each front side camera. push tab with a small screwdriver and disconnect harness. Use hair dryer and aim at connectors for about 1 minute. Reconnect, start car, test out the camera and park assist buttons. Worked like a charm for me (till next time it pours I guess). |

My 2014 335ix with 39kmiles threw a "Rear Camera Error" code. A few days later, my front PDC starting giving me false proximity alerts. My vehicle has been at the dealer for over a week. My SA told me the camera wiring loom was being replaced under warranty. Expecting another week due to the part being shipped from Germany.
