335d xdrive insurance almost doubled!

Hey guys

Renewal time but im really struggling to find a competitive quote

Last year it was £700 on my 525d. On the 335 its £1400 this year. Shocking

Im 34. 10 years+ ncb.

What am i missing here
Anyone else found something similar?
Can you share your insurance companies with so so i can see what they'd quote me?

Thanks

£1400 is very expensive unless you are in a very high risk location

I pay £290 with Aviva - 40s, full NCD, 15k miles, rural England. It’s actually a 2 car policy for just under £500, and they don’t break it down, so £290 is an estimate based on what I was paying before I added a second car. Aviva also have a driving app - if you can behave for 200 miles, you should be able to get a substantial discount on their first price.

Shockingly high. Admiral, Aviva, LV, direct line all good options. £700 is pretty steep too, must be a very high risk area.

You've gone from a 218bhp 2.0 litre 'luxury' saloon to a 313bhp 3.0 litre 'sporty' saloon, and you're surprised at the premium going up a lot ?

Direct Line, Churchill and Privilege are all part of the same group but have different scorecards. Try all three for the best quote.

I have been with these brands (in the order detailed above) for as long as I care to remember. When I was your age Churchill worked out best for me but as an old fart Privilege have provided the cheapest premiums for the last ten years or so,

Try Chris Knott brokers. They found a great policy on the 340 inc declared dtuk box.

Don't matter from that to this, its still too much for the car he has. I pay £1100 for my car & a brand new 1.2 Turbo SEAT IBIZA insured on my daughters name (20 years old).

Not surprising living in West Yorkshire, I guess you live in or near to Leeds, Bradford, Huddersfield and other undesirable towns?

I went from a 1.2 litre engine to a 440i and my insurance increase was nowhere near that amount.

OP - I use Aviva, have a multi car policy with them for 2 cars at £550, which includes a slight increase for the MPPSK. Have 10 years no claims like yourself.

I've just recently got a 335dx MS and my insurance went up £258 coming from a 520d MS. Initially paid £540 with Tesco in March for the 520.

I looked at a 12 month policy for the 335 and it was coming in around £950/1000. I'm 31 with 10+ ncb (no accidents/convictions and protected ncb)

Actually I get slightly cheaper quotes for a new F30 340i than on an E90 320d on comparison sites. Crazy but true!

That's crazy money.

I am in West Midlands (undesirable bit) and pay under £500 for my R Hearse and wife's GTI.

As mentioned shop around with LV, Admiral etc.

at my renewal in August, the premium also doubled - lots of shopping around to get the price down. At the ripe age of 48, i thought i was past all that insurance mallarky.....

LV came through in the end.

You live in Norwich, so I guess you know best what undesirable looks like!

So shite that they can't be arsed to link you to the rest of the country via any decent kind of roads.

OP, you could try APlan brokers. We've used them for 4 years now on our 335d and not had any major price rises. Their policy with Ageas is ideal especially if your car is modified or going to be.

Typical bumpkin comment

As we sing to the country cousins at Headingley (think Spurs Harry Kane he's one of our own tune)...
