That's a relief to hear in relation to the F30, as engine noise apparently gets through to the cabin more than in the F10.

I ordered mine on a hunch, without really knowing anything about the car at that point, after getting distracted looking for rates on a 1.6tdi Golf. I am so excited to read more and more and discover I've lucked into such a great car.

The closest I've got before was a brief test drive in an F10 530d.....

Thanks a lot for the review Mike A. It sounds very promising. Still no reviews avlble from the medias.
Guys, all other feedbacks will be very much appreciated by chaps like myself having to wait for several weeks more to put our hands on this good looking thing. Cheers.

Right.....had mine for a day now. Dont know how to post pics (would be good if someone could let me know how to).

First impressions are that this is indeed an incredible car. Inside it feels like a special place to be, M steering wheel has a very very nice feel in your hands (very chunky and tactile), all switches and materials look top notch and do exude a sense of luxury and quality. I went for the beige leather with walnut (yes, I'm a bit old school) so sitting in the cabin really feels like you are in a luxury car. Ride is smooth even around my (very poor) local roads and cabin noise is good for any car, let alone a diesel!

On to the exterior. What can I say! None of the pictures on the forum can do justice to the way it looks in the flesh. When looking at photos I was concerned about the 18" rims, that they appeared small and the wheel gap in the arches was too big, but actually seeing them on the car they look awesome and I'm actually glad I didn't go for the 19" rims (I would have paid more for something that didn't look as good). I went for EBII - wow!!!! What a beautiful colour! My car arrived yesterday when there wasn't a cloud in the sky and, man o man, EBII looked special in the sun! Again, no photos can do the colour justice.

Performance. Epic!! It's a very strange experience - you put your foot down and without any fuss you are at a highly illegal speed before you know it! I took it for a run on some empty carriageways and stretched it a bit in sport mode - I was doing 130 without realising, it's that quick, stable and smooth. I have no doubt that the car would annihilate almost all other cars on the road and with that 8AT give any unsuspecting E92 M3 or C63 AMG driver a nasty shock!! One thing I would say is that, for me, the steering lacks some feel and is too light. However, I drove a 3.0 6MT Z4 for 4 years until this April so perhaps I got used to the rather raw, highly involved drive that had. The 330D offers a very different kind of performance - effortlessly combining huge power and speed with luxury and sophistication.

I think that's all for now. I'll post some initial iPhone pics when someone tells me how! All in all my initial impressions are that this really is a special machine that may be a bit under the media radar at the moment but once people cotton on it has the potential to acquire legendary status among car enthusiasts in the know. It's not as obvious on the road as an M3 but if you know what it can do and you see one on the road you will respect it and the person driving it!

Just been to my local dealers as they had an m-sport in the showroom and i havn't seen one yet.

I thought it looked stunning, especially the front end, far better than it does in any pics i have seen.

The salesman had to call security to get me out of the showroom.

BTW it was EB with 19's.

You guys already driving one are soooo lucky.

Thanks for the review, sounds a fantastic car. With reference to above, would you say the acceleration is more of a linear steady pull rather than pin you back into the seat acceleration?

Also, what does it compare with of other cars you've been in? Have you been in a E92 M3 or C63 AMG?

Cheers.

Yes it does sound great. Not a raw loud in your face sound (which you get from an out and out sports car) but very smooth with a growly overtone - it tells you this baby's got some real teeth!

With respect to whether the acceleration is linear or 'kick you in the back' type. I would say its a strange mix of both - when you kick down in sport (I haven't yet found the roads for full blooded sport + fun) there is undoubtedly a shove in your back, and it does pin you back. But in addition to that there is a continuous wave of torque that means the acceleration just keeps on coming and coming, giving you the feeling of linear delivery as well.

It's hard to describe - Adman Mike, what are your thoughts on acceleration and how would you describe it?!

I haven't been in a C63 or E92 and I don't doubt that both those cars would outpace the 330D over a longer distance. However, the amount of torque and the 8AT would definitely give them a run for their money over shorter distances and, to be honest, in most non-track situations I expect the difference between them would not be that easy to unveil.

As I say I drove a 3.0 Z4 for 4.5 years and then also drove a Z4 M which was bonkers!! In my opinion the 330d could keep up with the Z4M with a manual tranny.
